Mumia Must Live
Oct. 25, 2015, 10:56 a.m.
Mumia Must Live: An Emergency Report On the Medical Mistreatment Of The Worlds Most Renowned Political Prisoner
with
. Esperanza Martell, a peace and human-rights activist, who has worked on social justice issues dealing with Puerto Rican
independence, political prisoners, education and health care from a class, race and gender perspective. She teaches community organizing at Hunter College, School of Social Work.
and
. Johanna Fernandez, with the Campaign to Bring Mumia Home, who teaches 20th century U.S. history, the history of movements for social change, the political economy of American cities, and African-American history
In 1976, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that prisoners were entitled to the same medical and dental treatment as everyone else in their communities, and that prisons withholding treatment may be held liable for violating the U.S. Constitution's ban on cruel and unusual punishment. However, the reality is that we might never know how many prisoners have suffered or died from medical and health care neglect, or willful mistreatment behind the walls. But, the case of journalist, world-renowned humanist and political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal, now in the fight for his life against the outrageous and deadly medical treatment in the prison system is
highlighting for the public the necessary fight to ensure that no more members of this vulnerable population suffer and are deprived of adequate health care " that the Supreme Court holding be followed!

The Taxcast: October 2015
Oct. 24, 2015, 5:26 a.m.
We look at the 'remittance cartel', their 'taxing of the poor' with monopoly prices in a juicy $450-500 billion market. Also: 'comfort letters' and the game changing European Commission ruling that the tax agreements between Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Fiat and Starbucks constitute illegal state aid. We analyse the rich country club of the OECD's BEPS proposals for reform of the global corporate tax system: will it really address corporate tax avoidance and evasion?

Kathy Kelly reveals the human costs of the US's elective wars. She tells stories of people caught on the ground in a war zone ... and of US-government-sponsored lies, crimes, and fraud in conducting these wars.
She tells stories of the courage of ordinary people living in the war zones--and of war crimes committed by the US and its allies. And she connects our military violence abroad and social problems here at home--such as police violence and our "broken" prison system.

4th World Radyo : Anti-Intellectualism is More Than Partisan Politics - it's Anti-Progress
Oct. 23, 2015, 1:52 p.m.
TheAngryindian speaks extemporaneously on the issue of institutional anti-intellectualism and why is it inherently dangerous to coddle those who bully the general society and targeted groups/populations into accepting their marginalisation as 'right' and obedience to their xenophobic, right-wing sociopolitical ideas and utterly paranoid religious fundamentalism. The discourse also includes an examination of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's totally false and misleading statements saying that the original plan for the Nazi programme of genocide, the European Holocaust, started not with Adolf Hitler and his inner circle, but with the then Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini. This is a disgusting historical lie that, ironically, began with the professional historical revisionists on the fringes of the far-right who deny that the fascists carried-out such crimes at all. Unsurprisingly, it is a pet theory within neo-Nazi/Libertarian intellectual circles and the fact that an Israeli PM would dare cite such bollocks as a means of discrediting the Palestinian liberation movement says something about how the professional propagandists judge the public's consciousness and its sense of political and historical knowledge and comprehension. US Corporatist Donald Trump has taken advantage of anti-intellectualism in his political campaigning to get away with using Nazi imagery, racist anti-immigration rhetoric and now, 'red-baiting' against Senator Bernie Sanders and the entire capitalist-owned and operated Democratic National Party (DNC).
EXTRA: Archived audio, 'From the Rez to Palestine' (not sure of the source) discussing the historical and political links between North American Indigenous Americans/First Nations peoples and the ongoing independence land struggles and violence going down in Occupied Palestine/Jewish State in the Levant (JSIL).
