Voices Of IllumiNation is a recorded show for all people, made to honor and promote the wisdom of all of the many wonderful prophetic artists, musicians and poets who have for so long been reaching out to all people on this planet we all share. It is an honor for me to bring their words to the spotlight and place emphasis on the important meaningful messages they share with the world and that coincide with everyone's indigenous common ground. Let us recognize the pearls of wisdom in so many songwriters that people tend to overlook and forget about too quickly and examine their words much closer than ever before, where we will find the many answers to life's questions that we all need to learn from and spread around much more among us all. If we're not willing enough to learn the songs of love, then we're just allowing hate to become the new incoming rhythms of the times.

Black Lives Matter: Investigating the Culture of Impunity of Racist Police Violence in the U.S.

The Black Lives Matter movement, and related anti-racism demonstrations are raising awareness of the profound social and racial inequalities across the United States. In particular these deomnstrations and their social media counterparts are pointing to the racist violence perpetrated by police agencies apparently with impunity.
This week's Global Research News Hour takes an in depth look at the phenomenon with two guests. Michelle Gross is a Minneapolis-based activist working with the group Communities United Against Police Brutality. She places in context the unrest following the fatal shooting of 24 year old African American Jamar Clark.
In the final half hour we will hear from Abayomi Azikiwe, commentator, essayist and editor of Pan-African News Wire. Azikiwe explains the historical roots of this repression of African Americans, the successes and failures of the Black Liberation Movements of the past and his unerstanding of the fundamental changes that would be needed to fully emancipate the Black population of America.

Zafar Bangash explains the warmongering motivations of Turkish President Erdogan wanting a no-fly zone over Syria: (1) To continue supplying weapons to the terrorist groups (2) To prevent the Kurds in Syria from hooking up to the Kurds in Turkey, esp. the Kurds in the Kurdistan Workers Party.
Bangash adds that Erdogan started the attacks on Kurdish areas to create fear and hate for the Kurds so he could garner support of the November elections. His false-flag strategy worked for him.
Turkey shooting down the Russian plane and murdering a Russian pilot was illegal and violated international law. Russia was invited by Syria to help fight the terrorists, and the Russian plane did not violate Turkish airspace.
Erdogan has created a crisis situation that has potential for blowing up into something serious (possibly world war). Syria has now deployed lethal S-400 missiles with a range of 250 kilometers.
Bangash points out that the Russian air force helps the Syrian army by enabling their military to carry out ground operations that have cleared out the terrorists in mountain areas.
Bangash makes the connection between Turkey stealing oil from Syrian wells and Erdogan family involvement in the oil business.
Aspiring to Rule the World: US Capital and the Battle for Syria.

Stephen Gowans lays out the imperialist thinking that defines the United States Empire âAspiring to Rule the World.â He shows the class content of US foreign policy with billionaires, esp. those on the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR) ruling all that is to be ruled -- controlling political positions, political wars, political media and, thereby, political âthinkingâ of the masses, who too commonly buy into the deception.
Gowans points to the irony of the US claiming it must intervene in the Middle East to preserve security of oil supply to US that helps the US people maintain a standard of living. But, as he states, the US has never been reliant much on Persian Gulf oil.
Gowans relates this âthinkingâ to the current war against Syria and shows why Syria fails the US hegemony test: 1) Syrian government, rather than moneyed interests, plays a significant role in the economy and (2) Syria is the last bastion of an Arab nationalism that rejects the idea of US economic domination of the Arab heartland.

U.S.-Turkey fighting dirty war against Syria

Steven Sahiounie describes the effect of the Russian air-force on the Syrian People and on the military. The Russian presence gave the Syrians hope and the Russian air power bombarding and killing of terrorists allowed the Syrian military on the ground to regain strategic northern areas.
Sahiounie gives many examples of the West fighting the Syrian people rather than ISIS such as: : bombing water pumps rather than the terrorists, not coordinating with the Syrian government, closing embassies which exasperated the refugee situation, Paris ignoring names of terrorists that Syria provided them two years ago, protecting the caravans of oil ISIS smuggled from Syria into Turkey.
Syria has global friends-- especially Iran, Russia and Hezbollah --who will challenge a NATO no-fly zone, which could lead to World War 3.

Adalah human rights lawyer Nadia Ben Yossef speaks about Israel's Jim Crow laws

Our feature presentation this morning is a speech delivered by Nadia Ben Yossef, a human rights lawyer and international advocate working to promote the rights of Palestinian and other Arab citizens of Israel, and Palestinians living under occupation. One out of every five Israeli citizens, living in Israel, is Palestinian. They live in a proclaimed Jewish state, where they are a segregated minorityâ¦by law. They do not have the same rights as Jews to education, property, land and home ownership, travel ability, or state benefits to name just a few. Think of the Jim Crow South in United States history, where Blacks were so blatantly segregated and discriminated against by law as well as practice. The parallels to the modern state of Israel as concerns the treatment of Palestinian citizens are chilling. Our Congressional representatives, at least most of them, would stand shoulder to shoulder in rejecting the re-introduction of Jim Crow laws in the United states, but they also stand shoulder to shoulder in supporting such a system of laws in Israel with billions of dollars of US financial support to what is a classic apartheid society. Unfortunately, the narrative is that we must support Israel because it is the "only democracy in the Middle East" (which it is not). We have to change that narrative to reflect the reality of the situation, and that is that we support with our tax dollars in Israel a state which is de jure deeply discriminatory to a major segment of its citizen population. The bottom line, we support there what we refuse to support here, and that we must change.
Nadia Ben Yossef works for an organization based in Israel that offers its non-Jewish population legal representation to defend their rights in this apartheid society. She serves as the international coordinator of Adalah, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights, as the organizations first US representative. She is currently developing Adalahâs US advocacy strategy to influence American policy and practice towards a human rights based approach in I/P. Nadia is a member of he New York Bar having earned her law degree from BC law school. She holds a BA degree from Princeton where she majored in Sociology.
We recorded Nadia Ben Yossef at a conference sponsored by Massachusetts Peace Action at Harvard University.

We have been following the plight of Prof. Steven Salaita, who was offered a tenured position at Illinois University at Urbana Champaign, moved his family from west Virginia, but before he even began his tenure, was fired for making statements critical of Israel on Twitter. It seems major donors to the university put pressure on the Universityâs president Phyllis Wise, and she acquiesced by firing Salaita. The backlash has been enormous. Academics and their associations levied charges of the violation of Academic Freedom and free speech across the country. Speakers scheduled for conferences at the university pulled out. Some professors at the university resigned in protest, filling tenured positions at the university has been difficult because many refuse to teach there. Ultimately President Wise was forced to resign, and Salita filed a lawsuit seeking his job back. That lawsuit has now been settled. The disturbing reports of interactions between the Israeli military and young people in the Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem continue. These clashes repeat week after week as the military continually enter the camp. Several youth have been arrested, some shot during these frequent incursions. This week there is a video of the arrest of a six year old boy, arrested while fleeing from the tear gas that was sprayed into his playground. We quote a report from the Maâan news service.
Finally, there is one more story to report this week and it has to do with the tunnels between Egypt and Gaza which Egypt has closed, cutting off a flow of goods which Gaza has depended on in the wake of Israelâs continuing siege. The tunnels have been a life line for Israel, but Egpyt, who has a peace treaty with Israel, has decided not only to close the tunnels, but to destroy them. We quote from a report from Mondoweiss news service headlined âEgyptâs destruction of Gaza tunnels leading to economic and environmental disaster.â
