The Mismanagement of Mecca
Oct. 17, 2015, 8:45 p.m.
The holiest site in Islam is under the control of Saudi Arabia, which is unable to prevent lethal incidents such as the recent disaster that killed hundreds.
This comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is involved in very dubious activities abroad, including invading Yemen and supporting ISIS.
And yet the Saudis just took over the leadership of the UN Human Rights Council.
Zafar Bangash brings his wide knowledge on all of these topics, and explains why Saudis get away with everything:
being allies of colonialism in the Middle East bring benefits to the Saudi ruling class.

#398 -- Unshackling Ourselves From War, Part 1
Oct. 17, 2015, 11:58 a.m.
Veteran peace activist Kathy Kelly gives a powerful talk on the human costs of the US's elective wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. She tells stories of average people caught on the ground in a war zone ... and of US-government-sonsored lies, crimes, and fraud in our conduct of war and alleged "reconstruction."
And she tells stories of the courage of ordinary people in the war zones--people working to ease the suffering and repair the damage to their and their neighbors' lives.

Junipero Serra: Fabrication of a Saint
Oct. 16, 2015, 5:54 p.m.
The Fabrication of a Saint: Native Peoples Horrified Over Canonization of Junipero Serra, Whom They Say is Responsible for Genocide
with
Christine Grabowski, author of Serra-gate the Fabrication of a Saint published in Indian Country Today
The decision of Pope Francis to canonize 18th century Spanish missionary Junipero Serra has provoked the ire of the indigenous peoples, whose ancestors were murdered and maimed during Serra s founding nine of the 21 missions in California that later were the basis of what is now the modern state. Hundreds of thousands of native peoples are purported to have died after the missionaries arrived. According to historian Alvin Josephy, what happened in California "was as close to genocide as any tribal people had faced, or would face, on the North American continent." We speak with Christine Grabowski, author of serra-gate the fabrication of a saint about why indigenous people oppose Pope Francis decision to canonize Father Jun pero Serra.
Rev. Susie's Katrina Show ch. 13: "Rock/Paper/Caesars!"
Oct. 16, 2015, 5:28 p.m.
This episode goes balls to the wall and BEYOND! On a bleak, dystopian, hurricane-ravaged plain littered with rotting pornography, George Walker Bush faces Jeb Robertson Bush in a rolling, biting, eye-stabbing grudgematch that goes all the way to the GRAVE!!! YES!! **YES!!!** Tonight, FINALLY, one of them will die, and this time, he will STAY DEAD! This is a TRIPLE-CAGE DEATHMATCH with no holds or holes barred! It's flying folding chairs and dismembered body parts as two intertwined lifetimes of hate, ambition, and treachery ultimately twist together into a lit fuse that ignites an explosive Ragnarok of apocalyptic violence!
Rev. Susie's Katrina Show ch. 12: "Meet George Jenkem!"
Oct. 16, 2015, 5 p.m.
Well, I'm not proud of this one. It's nothing but dope and potty humor that does nothing to advance the plot. As the official description has it:
Deathmatch, schmeathmatch. Jeb Robertson Bush has hunted down and slain his rogue brother in the swamps, but to no avail--the demonic George refuses to die! Being decapitated, filleted, and left for dead only got the dumbass worked up. What the fuck can his half-brother do? A revelatory astral visit from Jeb's ghostly real dad Pat Robertson lays an onus on his anus to finish the job.
Meanwhile, out in the bayou, George discovers the worst--he's out of BEER! But then, a solution--"solution" being in a LITERAL sense-- presents itself when George recalls his frat days and the pleasures of gettin' high off jenkem...and "Oh, shit" ain't enough of a description.
Trust me, this episode rapidly plunges from the operatic heights to the pull-my-finger depths like a skeet-shot cliffdiver--but it serves a real purpose, because we'll *need* a breather and a little recreational chemical therapy. This story arc is playing out, and it's about to shift into high gear. Get ready to strap in, because the NEXT episode is one motherfucker of a nitrofueled grindhouse explosion of stunning, jaw-dropping violence that FINALLY, ONCE AND FOR ALL SETTLES THE GEORGE/JEB SCORE FOR GOOD.

Interviews David Christopher from Open Media
Oct. 16, 2015, 2:45 p.m.
Stuart Richardson of Latin Waves interviews David Christopher Communications Manager from Open Media, we have a vigorous discussion about our digital rights as Canadians. We touch on how the TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership) deal may fundamentally change the way the internet operates, how daily activities may become criminalized once the TPP is passed, how this secretive agreement is being negotiated âbehind our backsâ and how important it is for average Canadians to demand transparency.
We speak about how Canadaâs internet and cell phone services have fallen behind the rest of the world in price and speed of access while we continue to pay the highest global rates.
And we wrap up with a discussion about BillC51 and how fundamentally this opposes Canadian values around the charter, how this bill is finding opposition in all political sectors including conservatives, some conservative groups have called it âThe Long gun registry on steroidsâ
