There was a heavy rainstorm and flooding in the forecast for November 9 but a group of friends and colleagues were undaunted and came to the opening party for Peter Dale Scott's 2014 book on the Deep State, published by Rowman & Littlefield. We met in the poetry room of the historic City Lights bookstore and publishing house in San Francisco's North Beach.
Professor Peter Dale Scott is a Canadian-born former diplomat, and retired Professor of Literature at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of many books and articles on state terrorism, surveillance, drug-dealing by the CIA, and political assassinations.

She tells us what goes into relocating an entire town that is being rendered unlivable by climate change, and what the experience of Shishmaref can teach us as our planet continues to warm. Then, we lighten things up a bit in a brief discussion with ersatz Republican Congressman Jack Kimble, who represents California's mythical 54th congressional district.

Yeah, the anniversary of Elvis Presley's birthday is looming, so what better way of celebrating this inbred son of the South than a second play of "Slouching toward Graceland," one of the best Elvis shows I've miraculously managed to produce? And I even fixed the sound levels into a more palatable whole! This show features some of The King's most drugged-out live performances and studio pieces (and NO, I did NOT add the yelping animal effects to the studio version of "Sweet Memories" or whatever the song is called!). This episode is an hour-long, full-on wallow in Presley's descending trajectory, his death, and creepy resurrection via an army of impersonators. Featuring a personal reminiscence by his charmingly named nurse Marian Cocke laid over an Elvis-themed techno song, and a rousing and ultra-catchy Elvisian version of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" done by the super-skinny EP impersonator Lord Russ. As a perpetual-motion engine keeps a super-powered locomotive speeding around the planet, the impoverished lower classes occupy the rear cars while the privileged upper classes are pampered in the front. The fragile balance of power between the two begins to shift, however, when an enigmatic message sparks a revolt that cannot be quelled. The film stars Luke Evans, Song Kang-ho, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Ed Harris and a spasmatic Tilda Swinton as Mason, the trains main disher of dirty deeds.
