Poisoning the Sky (TWO of TWO)

For several years the IPCC and the British Royal Society have shown images of air planes spraying into the atmosphere and call it Solar Radiation Management, SRM. In fact spraying from airplanes is one of the best loved methods of SRM proponents because it is so cheap. However they claim that the program is not yet being deployed. In part one you heard from residents of Shasta County in Northern California. They began testing rain and snow after spraying events and found chemical that only appear after airplane activity has obscured the sky. They are beginning to name the chemicals in chemtrails, among them aluminum, barium and strontium. For that they are called conspiracy theorists.
One of the most famous defenders of aerial spraying is the scientist David Keith. He is a Harvard physicist, and advisor to Bill Gates and Gates' private geoengineering projects. David Keith's book: A Case for Climate Engineering, was published by MIT. Keith admits to risks of aerial spraying, including damaging the ozone layer, creating acid rain and disrupting rainfall. However he says that climate change is so serious and CO2 reduction politically so difficult that governments may need to resort to climate engineering. He was on the Stephen Colbert Show in December 2013. In this short excerpt Colbert makes fun of conspiracies.

A report from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) contains a strongly-worded assessment of the danger facing the planet due to the burning of fossil fuels. Dr. Mann, to talk about the report and what it means. In 2005, a large number of unions, associations and other organizations known as Palestinian Civil Society called for a movement of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) to demand that Israel comply with international law. At the end of August all around Australia marches were held to protest about the various unpalatable actions that the Abbott government has taken during their one year in power.
In Brisbane the focus of the ire of the march was also Queensland premier Campbell Newman.
Linda, Kimbeaux and Peter went to the march in Brisbane and report back at the beginning of this episode.

Tonight, seekers, comes the first fruits from the FUNHOUSE Radio Outreach Project (my F.R.O.P. agenda), and I am damned proud! Reverend Louie Louie's show project has jelled into fearsome excellence. But this more than just a wonderfully goofy and evocative radio exercise produced by the hands of an editing master--this is the long-awaited culmination of an interrupted dream from thirty frickin' years ago! As I describe it in the intro, RL² has an impressive radio pedigree, and in the day, he produced some amazing stuff, particularly the NORBLE DURNQUEST ALL-AMERICAN LIZARD SHOW (!!!). He wasn't just a star...he was a hero. And tonight, after decades spent in limbo, Norble's sprawling narrative at last has been given the courtesy of a radio reacharound. The loose ends that seemed destined to dangle in the breeze forever have been macraméed into a wondrous sonic excursion into the mind of this marvelous madman.

Bloomington IN about current and former instances of racist and
institutional violence against inmates at the Pendleton Correctional
Institution in Madison County, Indiana. Folks are organizing a call in
day from 11am-1pm EST on Monday, September 8th. People are asked to
flood the central office and the mail room to protest repression against
radical and New Afrikan organizing in the form of severe restrictions to
mail and communication, among many other things.

Among other things, John hosted a talk show in L.A. for years and created the hit show Real People.
He also has long been a radical
political thinker and comedian who admired Jack Paar and whose mentor
was Redd Fox (we're dating ourselves, but young people: please listen!).
John became interested in the Kennedy
assassination after he read a book by attorney Jim Garrison and then
John interviewed him for 3 1/2 hours in what came to be, The Garrison
Tapes.

Hey, are you following me? No worries, Just setting the tone as we Queue up this weeks selection, the (1974) Paranoid Thriller THE CONVERSATION from director Francis Ford Coppola staring Gene Hackman. Made between The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, The Conversation was a return to small-scale art films for Coppola. Regarded as an artistic highpoint of the time, it tells the tale of sound surveillance expert Harry Caul (Gene Hackman), who s hired to track a young couple, taping their conversation as they walk through San Francisco s crowded Union Square. Knowing full well how technology can invade privacy, Harry obsessively keeps to himself, separating business from his personal life, even refusing to discuss what he does or where he lives with his girlfriend, Amy. Harry s work starts to trouble him, however, as he comes to believe that the conversation he pieced together reveals a plot by the mysterious corporate Director who hired him to murder the couple. After he allows himself to be seduced by a call girl, who then steals the tapes, Harry is all the more convinced that a killing will occur, and he can no longer separate his job from his conscience. The Godfather Part II and The Conversation earned Coppola a rare pair of Oscar nominations for Best Picture, as well as two nominations for Best Screenplay (The Godfather Part II won both). Praised by critics, The Conversation was not a popular hit, but it has since come to be praised as a film of note, both for it s supburb depictions and methodical tones " not to mention a VERY YOUNG Harrison Ford!
