New York Rallies with International Community to Stand with Gaza! Millions of people have decried Israel s crimes against humanity and marched in solidarity with the people of Gaza. In Europe, activists have turned out in 12 countries, including in France, where thousands defied a government ban. One hundred and fifty thousand were reported to have marched in great Britain. Tens of thousands of Palestinians demonstrated in the Occupied West Bank in solidarity with their Gaza sisters and brothers. Inside Israel 5,000 rallied in Tel Aviv, while 700 marched in Haifa and others in Jerusalem. Some 50 Israeli reservists refuse to serve in the military s invasion of Gaza. Elsewhere in Asia,demonstrators came out in many countries, and Australians and New Zealanders marched too. Protests have also occurred through-out Northern Africa and several cities in South Africa, where government expelled the Israeli ambassador and 50,000 marched in Cape Town. Several Latin American countries have broken diplomatic relations with Israel. Now in New York we ve come together with the international community to say we too Stand with Gaza!

We have chunks of Darryl Rhoades, Larry Norman, Ed Kilbourne, Jimmy Swaggart, Robert Tilton, Jack Van Impe, Little Marcy, the Jesus Sound Explosion, and a shitload of selections from records with the subtitle "A Folk-Rock Musical about Jesus." Plus you'll hear the incredible acid-rock xtian album SOME BEAUTIFUL DAY by Pete Levin and Bill Comeau, which I like to dance naked to--and the bizarre "Jesus the Rebel" by an old cracker named Clarence Jordan, who relates the story of the crucifixion using the idiom of the KKK and the White Citizens' Council. WHAT THE FUCK. Retooling my old Jesus show is timely: 2014 marks my 33rd year in the Church of the SubGenius. Yes, I've been in the trenches preaching the word of Dobbs for the length of ONE WHOLE JESUS. But of all the BSTFs, this show has scored over 1800 downloads and counting! Ridiculous U.S. Logic: Attack a Group Here, Support It There

Raed (pronounced "Rod") Jarrar was in Jerusalem July 10-17 as Israel launched its genocidal attack on the population of Gaza, on its life-enabling infrastructure, and on their homes. He spoke to a full house in Cambridge MA on August 7th. We have broken our recording up into five pieces: Intro by host, Main presentation, First and Second Q&A, All Q&A after the second, and Local Announcements. All are well worth listening. The first three can be put together to fit a one-hour broadcast slot. The Local Announcements (actually given after the main presentation) will lose their currency over time. Raed reported on his experiences; he also focused on analysis of the current situation in Iraq. The presentation featured the nonsensical nature of US policy in the Middle East, including Syria, Egypt, Iraq, and Iran, and how the peace movement can take action. Our so-called leaders are "leading" by repeatedly painting the label of "terrorist," then attacking, a shifting array of groups, described by Jarrar as "enemy of the month." Today's "enemy" in Iraq is ISIS (recently renamed "IS"). This is a tiny band of people who are said to have conquered the entirety of Iraq in just a few days, using perhaps 200 pickup trucks. The U.S. response: bomb them. Meanwhile, just over the border in Syria, the U.S. provides weapons and training to support this very same group, which passes freely back and forth between the two countries! And that's not all. A small group of Iraqi civilians, under siege from the IS monster, have climbed to a mountaintop refuge bereft of food and water. OK, now, the U.S. puts on its humanitarian hat, airdropping water and meals ready to eat. Abracadabra, the most vicious country in the world claims it's a humanitarian savior! All this in a country devastated by U.S. attacks and manipulation since 2003 or before. Jarrar was born and educated in Baghdad and currently lives in Washington D.C. Idiots and Angels

This week we’re heading down to Barts Bar as we Queue up the (2008) Animated Feature IDIOTS & ANGELS from the masterful mind of sketch artist Bill Plympton. This highly regarded and award winning film tells the story of Angel, a selfish, abusive, morally bankrupt man wakes up one morning to discover his body has begun to match his name – a pair of wings has sprouted from his back. Angel doesn’t care to have wings and is annoyed by the ridicule they inspire among his drinking buddies, so he cuts them off, only to find they quickly grow back. Even worse, Angel learns the wings have their own moral compass, and are forcing him to be benevolent in a way that hardly suits him. Hoping a professional can help, Angel has a surgeon amputate the wings, but when Bart, the bartender at Angel’s favorite watering hole, makes trouble for a woman he fancies, the wings return again – leading to a war of wills between two corrupt men and one mysterious force for good. Angels And Idiots tells its story without dialogue but does include songs from such artists as Tom Waits, Moby, Pink Martini and Nicole Renaud.
