A gripping talk by "Goliath" author Max Blumenthal

First, current news on the recent Fatah-Hamas alliance and its icy dismissal by Israel; then a gripping talk by Max Blumenthal, author of "Goliath: Life and Loathing in Greater Israel." Jewish himself, Blumenthal is getting attention with his frank analyses of Israel's moral collapse. He paints a startling portrait of Israeli society under the siege of increasingly authoritarian politics as its occupation of Palestine deepens day by day. Blumenthal has been the butt of vicious hate messages and a death threat, apparently emitting from within the Zionist community. That's one way of confirming that what he says is really important. In the preface to the book, Blumenthal wrote that it is "Americans’ tax dollars and political support that are crucial in sustaining the present state of affairs" in Israel and that, in the book, he wanted to show what that money is paying for and to present the facts, using the same journalistic methods used in his previous book, Republican Gomorrah, "as they really are today, in unadorned and unsanitized form, without sentimentality or nostalgia." Part 2 of Mel Bazil on Decolonization, Anarchism, Solidarity & Indigeneity

Before we announce the show, we want to announce our presentation of Sean Swain's voice on our show for the first time in 8 weeks. Sean's GTL (GlobalTelLink, privatized prison phone company) and JPay (private company Sean's critiqued before which handles, among other things, emails/commisary and other profitized elements of incarceration) accounts were suspended by the OSP administration, the office of Governor Kasich & the Ohio Highway Patrol/State Police. During those 8 weeks, Sean's segments on The Final Straw (which were ostensibly a reason for his blackout) never stopped, as Sean smuggled scripts out of the Super-Duper-Uber-Mega-Ultra-Max in Youngstown. Congrats, Sean! This week we play part two of Mel Bazil's presentation from the 2014 Montreal Anarchist Bookfaire. He covers an array of concepts. He talks about the Non-Profit Industrial Complex, Decolonization, infrastructure, false alternative energies and capitalism. Angel Heart

This week in the Q it’s the much talked about sinister/noir thriller ANGEL HEART staring Mickey Rourke, Robert DeNiro and Lisa Bonet. Alan Parker directs this twisted gumshoe tale which at the time of its release garnered an X-rating, a Cosby Show boycott, and a MASSIVE Spike in hair gel sales (Just listen to the episode, you’ll laugh after). The premise is this… The time is the 1955, and seedy Brooklyn private eye Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke) is hired by shady Louis Cyphre (Robert De Niro) to locate a pop singer who reneged on a debt. Harry ventures into Harlem, the first step of a Heart of Darkness-inspired odyssey, one that will eventually take him to the underbelly of New Orleans. Each time Harry makes contact with someone who might know the singer’s whereabouts, he or she is killed in a horrible, ritualistic fashion; a Satanic cult seems to be at the bottom of all the carnage. Harry solves the mystery, all right. He just didn’t know that he had the answer all along – even before Louis entered his office.
