He discusses the amazingly creative and joyful Hildegard of Bingen, and her work, and his book, The Pope's War and delves into the various scandals in the church from their connection to the CIA, their involvement in sabotaging liberation theology, the Church's child molestation problem and of course, the new Pope. Karen is not to be deterred in probing both of these guy's psyche's for "why are men afraid of women being equal?" I hope everyone listens to these really lovely men - and a very down to earth interview as Karen says, "we are on the edge of a knife" The interview is blessed by a male caller who said there were a lot of men "out here" who feel the same way you (we feminist women) do regarding the return of the Mother! Leymah Gbowee talks about the challenges faced by women in politics.
After watching her native Liberia descend into a lengthy civil war, Leymah Gbowee decided to take a stand. A social worker by profession, she mobilized a coalition of Christian and Muslim women that eventually paving the way for Africa's first democratic election of a female head of state. She's the co-founder and executive director of the Ghana-based Women Peace and Security Network-Africa and Newsweek Daily Beast's Africa columnist.
