The Supreme Court gutted a key voter protection, stepped up scrutiny of race in college entry and made it more difficult to sue for workplace discrimination. For African-Americans, the politics and public policy that make for a more humane and equitable society still remains elusive. Despite the hardship and struggles that African-Americans face, there are many who oppose the correction of the disparities still rooted deeply in American life and the promise of equality. We'll examine what happened, what's likely as a result of these collection of decisions, and how we fix it

This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length, but I try to keep them approximately 30 minutes in most cases.
Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk, from Arlo Guthrie to Aerosmith. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul

Massad discusses the distinction between the internationally recognized right of Palestinians to return and Israel's claim that it returned by right (after 2000 years), including its supposed right to expel Palestinians.

In late-April, the Waterloo Public Interest Research Group at the University of Waterloo organized a conference titled "(En)gendering Resistance: Exploring the possibilities of gender, resistance and militancy." Concluding the conference was a keynote presentation by Jackie Wang, who spoke on the concept of "revolutionary loneliness", referring to the seemingly inevitably traumatizing and alienating effects of participating in revolutionary struggle, and to the sense of loneliness that the experience of gendered and racialized forms of suffering can produce. Historically, revolutionary movements have based their politics on (implicitly) masculine and white positions and thus fail to eradicate social alienation. This presentation (a bit over an hour long) explores the liberation narratives of militant women and gender-variant revolutionaries such as Assata Shakur, Sylvia Rivera, Safiya Bukhari, Yuri Kochiyama, Marilyn Buck, Susanna Ronconi, and more.

Regarding the month of resistance to SWN Resources in the fight against fracking at Elsipogtog, Mi'kma'ki territory (Kent County, NB), since the Sacred Fire was lit.
The piece contains a description. Briefly, it was produced on July 1st and aired on CKDU 88.1 on From the Margins (Mondays at 8pm). It contains a number of voices of people involved in the struggle; and some key political actors; all mixed into an interview with journalist Miles Howe (on site the last month) recapping the last month of resistance.
By now, Miles has been arrested and released (July 4th), clearly in an attempt to disrupt the steady stream of investigative and documentary coverage he has provided through the HMC.
