my guest. He talks about how glyphosate, a component of roundup, kills plants. It works by withholding micro-nutrients and depriving plants of nutrients necessary for enzymatic functions. Don Huber believes glyphosate is more dangerous than DDT.

Religious Freedom and Cuts to Prison Chaplain Program

Earlier this month, the Canadian government cancelled the contracts of part-time chaplains in federal prisons. The government says that the changes, which take effect on March 31st, 2012, will support freedom of religion for inmates while protecting federal tax dollars. Faith and justice groups argue that the cuts are discriminatory and will limit access to non-Christian chaplains.

In this installment of the Global Research News Hour, we examine the direction Canadian Foreign policy has taken in recent years under the Harper Conservatives.
In Part 1 we begin with an interview recorded with Jim Manly shortly after his release from Israeli detention and his arrival back in Canada. Manly, a former Canadian Parliamentarian travelled aboard the Freedom Flotilla ship Estelle which was transporting humanitarian items to the people of Gaza. Manly recalls his harrowing treatment at the hands of Israeli authorities after the Estelle was boarded and towed to an Israeli port. Manly shares his thoughts about what Canadians should be doing to correct an unjust state of affairs in Gaza.
Part 2 features Canadian foreign policy critic Yves Engler who is on a cross-Canada tour of his recent book, The Ugly Canadian: Stephen Harper's Foreign Policy.
Part 3 features Associate Professor Gus Van Harten of Osgoode Hall Law School who teaches Administration Law and International Investment Law. He discusses the concerns he has about a new investment pact with China known as the Canada-China Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA) that could put Chinese corporate interests ahead of the democratic rights of Canadians in their own country.
