Too many First Nations women ending up in jail

Indigenous women make up 4% of the population as a whole. Yet they form one third of the federal prison population. A recent report examines why so many First Nations women are incarcerated. The report is called Marginalized and was prepared by the Wesley Group and recently released by the Public Safety department. Kim Pate is executive director of the Elizabeth Fry Society.
Repression of memory in Jewish Israeli culture

Nakba is the word Palestinians use for the catastrophe they experienced during the creation of the state of Israel. A new film by Lia Tarachansky focuses on the denial of memories of the1948 war. For her documentary, Tarachansky interviewed four Israelis who took part in that ethnic cleansing and discovers, along with them, how many memories they have repressed.

Wrong is Wrong: Obama and the NDAA

Cindy Sheehan was super busy this past week, so Diane Gee, host of the Wild, Wild Left filled in as guest host and interviewed anti-NDAA activist and plaintiff, Tangerine Bolen. Ms. Bolen, along with Daniel Ellsberg and Chris Hedges are suing Obama and trying to get the NDAA overturned.

Repression and Counter-Repression brought together people from all over who had recently been coping with repression to discuss its current framework. Panelists spoke from a variety of perspectives from within "ecological," "animal liberation," and "anti-capitalist" struggles. The contributions of each will help broaden our understandings of how repression acts against revolutionary projects and how a practice of revolutionary solidarity can reduce some of the effects of repression and help us to construct an environment of counter-repression.
* What is the framework of repression under which we are operating?
* What is "Revolutionary Solidarity"? What is its function? What are its means?
* How, in such a paralyzing condition of surveillance and political condition of weakness, can we move towards a practice of revolutionary solidarity?

Katherine, of the Friends and Family Of Daniel McGowan;
Neil, a member of Internationalist Prison Books Collective and a supporter of the Asheville 11, defendants recently accused of 112 misdemeanors and 34 felonies;
Talia, a survivor of Minnehaha Free State repression, member of the Coldsnap Legal collective, worker for the NLG, and member of the Conspiracy Tour.
This panel was moderated by an editor of Rolling Thunder magazine.

Youth unemployment reaches crisis proportions

The unemployment and underemployment rate among young workers is about twice that of older workers â and itâs getting worse. A new report looks at the long-term effects of this trend. Karen Foster is a research associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and a post-doctoral fellow at St. Maryâs University in Halifax.

Slouching toward Megiddo, this behemoth of a show rises from the ocean to thrill you with a mind-slashing array of crazy preachers and apocalyptic jackoff fantasies! The Devil is your DeeJay as you soak in the Lake of fire alongside lost lunatics and misinformed millennialists! The SHINING STAR of tonight's show, however, is not Lucifer--rather, it HAS to be Mary Katherine Baxter, whose astonishing 1976 screed "A Divine Revelation of Hell" (or "Hay- ull" as her flat, midwestern twang) will make you boggle along with her fractured travelogue! On several consecutive nights, this hillbilly housewife/Dante was led by Jesus ("He had a Jewish look, and a Jewish hay-ercut," she intones) through a dreamscape of horrors to the very bowels of Hell--and HALLEFUCKINLUJAH, but she committed her hallucinatory experience to audiotape!
