Episode 08/28/2012
Sept. 4, 2012, 2:58 a.m.
Startin' out kind rock n' roll-ish but then we'll be hittin' some more British and Commonwealth derived stuff, mostly from the 80s and 90s, I think, cuz' that's what I've been listening to lately, and I found a bunch of stuff I'd never heard before that's fantastic. The second hour will be closed out by episode 28 of Rum Doings!
You Say Tomato, I Say Penultimato
Sept. 4, 2012, 2:37 a.m.
The spectral frequency at the end of the tunnel is easiest to see when it's this close, but it's actually been a long time coming.
I've made the decision to pack up and leave my home in the beautiful Square State many months ago, and unfortunately the radio show will have to see one last hurrah -- which will air next week.
I'll be going to Washington to try out a life on the Pacific Nor'West for a while, thus ending this chapter of my radio career. There is a similar community station that I will most likely get involved with - so if anything interesting happens on that front - I'll be sure to update this blog accordingly.
1190 has provided an exceptional platform and I hope that any fans in the area keep an ear tuned and support them in any way they can. Hell, if you want to come in and do a show of your own - by all means. Go get it. Make it yours.
Cheers friends.

" Itâs a pretty happy day when you get to sit around a table with people who have been your pals since a long time ago and say things to make one another hoot and laugh, sop tears on their cuffs. Somebody told a story that made someone almost spray her beer across the table through her nose. It was a story that hinged on whether a comma belonged inside or outside the quotation marks. On the right kind of night, thereâs just no place more fun than the table where all the English majors are sitting. Lie and lay. Fewer and less. Its and itâs. Their, there, and theyâre. You and me. Hang with the English majors and this stuff gets funny...."

The Establishment enjoys deceiving, inveigling, and obfuscating the truth. Without a clear understanding of reality, and our situation, we are doomed to suffer from illusions. It is impossible to resist much of anything if you donât know how it all hangs together.

from http://www.ashevillefm.org/the-final-straw/01/2012/needle-exchange-harm-reduction-and-disease-prevention-in-wnc :
This weeks show is an interview with Michael Harney, the coordinator of the NEPA (Needle Exchange Program of Asheville) and, in a different capacity, works with WNCAP (Western North Carolina Aids Project). He's done this work and gained notoriety and helped many to help themselves since 1994. During the hour, Michael informs Bursts about the history of these two groups, where they stand today, harm reduction in general, and the attacks and withdrawals of government at it's many levels in illegalizing the exchange of dirty needles (for disposal) with clean ones as politicians change. Online @ www.ashevillefm.org/the-final-straw through January 22nd 2012 and afterwards at archive.org by searching the title.

The Case of the Cleveland 5
Sept. 3, 2012, 2:33 a.m.
This week's conversation features a discussion of the case of the Cleveland 5, anarchists arrested in Ohio on April 30th for allegedly attempting to blow up a bridge. But the case isn't so simple as idealists independently taking direct and spectacular action against infrastructure. As members of Cleveland 5 Justice (the support group for the defendants) share with us information about the accused, what is known about the alleged infiltrator sent by the FBI to facilitate a terror case (Shaquille Azir), and the significance of the timing of the arrests to coincide with May Day celebrations worldwide and the reawakening of the Occupy Movement in the U.S., we see a widened scope of intrigue and entrapment that fits into a bigger picture of corrupt government and self-serving security services.
This show will be streaming at www.ashevillefm.org/the-final-straw from 7/16/12 til 7/23/12 and archived permanent-style at archive.org by searching the show title.

Episode 14-pt.3 of 3-Schwasted Aerosol Addicts!-2011-3-14
Sept. 3, 2012, 12:02 a.m.
Holy shit this is the most twizzled I have ever been on air! quite embarrassing, actually! But I can't any shame in my game. so.....
EPISODE 14!
This show was done immediately following the spectacular "Aerosol Addicts" Graffiti art benefit show, for two local underage Santa Cruz youth who were being persecuted for alleged graffiti activities and facing thousands of $ in fines, had their homes raided and served jail time. The benefit was at the now defunct Cesar Chavez Co-op in Santa Cruz (at 316 Main St), which was closed down due to the show (Aerosol Addict was more the straw that broke the camel's back after years of tension).
Here's a video the wonderful Jazmin Jones made about the event:
http://vimeo.com/24508923
ANYWAY! show was great, we had a cop-pinata, raffled off hash and paint pens, and showcased punk and hip hop. Praun Octangulo was hammered, and then pulled off this show just for you!
featuring.....
