May 19, 2011, 7:38 p.m.
Why some couples get along and others don’t, sometimes to the extent of terminating their relationship, is a curious question, the answer to which is likely to bring both pleasure and unhappiness to each of us. Michael Basta has been a licensed clinical social worker based in Sonoma, County California, since 1988. He is trained and certified as a Gottman Couples’ Therapist. This training identifies the traits and behaviors of couples that are useful to predict how long their relationship will last. Michael Basta visited Radio Curious on May 21, 2010, and began by describing the negative traits and behaviors that indicate a dark future for the relationship. The book Michael Basta recommends is “The Female Brain,” by Dr. Louann Brizendine.

Shameless US news personality Lou Dobbs still given a mainstream platform

May 18, 2011, 1:01 p.m.
Lou Dobbs is the former CNN host of "Lou Dobbs Tonight", generating big money for Time Warner Inc. for decades. He is currently the host of a new television show of the same name on Rupert Murdoch's Fox Business Network. No doubt trying to hold on to his reign as a very influential spokesperson for the anti-immigrant movement. Dobbs is acclaimed by former CNN president Jonathan Klein for his "fearless reporting and commentary", but independent journalist Isabel Macdonald has uncovered hidden truths that tell otherwise. She reveals in her October 2010 article, "Lou Dobbs, American Hypocrite", how Dobb's is yet another affluent white American reliant on the labour of poor racialized people with no or precarious status. Turns out Dobbs' recurring public rants condemning "illegal" employers, advocating an enforcement-first approach to those hiring "ïllegal" people, was just a trade off for his reported $6 million per year salary. Underneath it all, his reliance on "low cost" "undocumented" workers makes good for the upkeep of his family's lavish lifestyle. In this interview Macdonald looks deeper into: the dangers of misinforming the public; how categorizing people as un/documented, victimizes them; the purpose of corporate-led media's scapegoating poor immigrants, including how Dobb's solely right wing point of view helps build and consolidate a movement premised to scapegoat and deny rights to immigrants; and the protest campaign led by the Latin American community.

The mining industry must embrace the spirit and intent of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,” said Chief Marilyn Baptiste, Secretary-Treasurer of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs. “Poorly regulated Canadian-owned operations, such as those belonging to Goldcorp and First Majestic Silver, are putting in jeopardy the health, security, and rights of Indigenous communities.”(Mining Watch Canada) Also music by Waldemar Bastos- Sofrimento http://miningjusticealliance.wordpress.com/ http://www.miningwatch.ca/

In this show, Mr. Kelley plays music which he picked up from the 2011 New Orleans Jazz Festival. Mr. Kelley's biography may be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Kelley
