Part B - Vandana Shiva has been researching the impact of GMO Foods for the past 20 years, she speaks to Latin Waves about her latest book Soil not Oil. She speaks about the need to move away from an oil based economy and replace it with a Bio-diversity economy that would be produce more jobs, more food etc while saving the planet.

HUGE Educaction Cuts in Nova Scotia

In December 2010, the Nova Scotia government made a shocking announcement of proposed education cuts amounting to $200 million. Numbers that have been thrown out include up to 4,000 total staff slashed; 2,000 teachers out the door; hundreds of bus drivers off the road; hundreds more janitors and other staff given the boot as well; and, up to 70 schools gone. Even if this is just sabre rattling, these are some huge sabres. This is an interview with an anonymous teacher in Nova Scotia.

How does knowing they have equal rights improve their self image? Do fundamentalist groups that oppose marriage equality consider GLBT youth to be disposable? Also, Dr Kevin offers his perspective on the difference between being a GLBT youth today, and what it was like to be a youth in the GLBT movement 20 years ago.
