BSTF 834 - SONG POEMS Pt 2

Oct. 4, 2010, 9:16 a.m.
More exquisitely twisted music from the vanity-press world of the Song Poem! As loons often do, we shift into a political bent on this second half, with odes to Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, and even RICHARD NIXON! This one made me spit three times, actually Danny Thomas spit-takes, all over my screen—and I’d heard them before! When you hear a voice intone, “GOD…in His infinite WISDOM…made…RICHARD NIXON!,” what can you do but spit? There are catchy numbers like the peppy “You’re Like Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Potasshium” song, the trenchant despair of “Blue Atoms”—and the artistic heights and baffling end of Rodney Keith Eskelin, the Master of the Mellotron!

Not fancified recording techniques, not four fingered banjo, no damned jazz chords, no five string fiddles! Just old time, bluegrass, and maybe some raggy numbers. Enjoy! JB
