Labor Express for 7-26-10
July 26, 2010, 1:10 p.m.
This is the full 7-26-10 episode of the Labor Express Radio program.
On this weeks episode of Labor Express Radio we air part 2 of our 2 part look at the state of the current world wide economic crisis, its origins and prognosis for the near future. I hope everyone enjoyed last weekâs program when we devoted the entire program to the wisdom of Economist Dr. Jack Rasmus, whose new book, Epic Recession, Prelude to Global Depression is an in-depth study of the causes of the current crisis and a plan of action to prevent the crisis from deepening. If you missed that program I encourage you to go online and download an mp3 file of the program. You can always find our archived programs at laborexpress.org
Today we bring you slightly different economic analysis from Sociology professor David Harvey. Harveyâs most recent work, The Enigma of Capital: and the Crises of Capitalism has many of the same goals and conclusions as Rasmus book, but Harveyâs analysis of the crisis comes from a more classically Marxist perspective. It as an amazingly insightful, cogent and at times humorous analysis and I strongly encourage you to stay tuned for that. It will air in the second half of our program.
In the first half of the program, will hear about a massive rally at Chicagoâs Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Chicago which lead to some arrests. The action was part of a series of actions at 15 Hyatt hotels across the country last week. Will also hear about the community/labor coalition Jobs With Justices efforts to organize the unemployed.
Labor Express Radio is Chicago's only English language labor news and current affairs radio program. News for working people, by working people. Labor Express Radio airs every Monday morning at 10:00 AM on Chicago's Sound Alliance, WLUW, 88.7 FM. For more information, see our website at: www.laborexpress.org
