Who has influenced us, and how we pass that influence along is a question that goes to the heart of both learning and mentoring. The concepts of mentoring are set out in the book “Guiding Lights: The People Who Lead Us Toward Our Purpose in Life,” by Eric Liu. In this interview, recorded n February 2005, Eric Liu discusses his experiences a mentor, a mentee, and an observer of both. For more information see www.ericliu.com.

"All Things Cage" is a weekly program featuring conversations between Laura Kuhn, Director of the John Cage Trust, and Cage experts and enthusiasts from around the world. If youd like to propose a guest or a topic for a future program, write directly to Laura at lkuhn@johncage.org.Laura Kuhn presents the first recording of John Cages Europera 5, preceded by her reading Recollections of the Premiere Performance by Yvar Mikhashoff. This recording of Europera 5 was produced by Brian Brandt and released on the Mode Records label as Mode 36 in 1995, with performers Yvar Mikhashoff, Martha Herr, Gary Burgess, Jan Williams, and Don Metz. Europera 5 is the last and most diminutive of Cages operas " preceded by Europeras 1 & 2 (1984-1987) and Europeras 3 & 4 (1991) " and was instigated by pianist Yvar Mikashoffs desire for a small, more practical and portable, and more easily performed work in the series, which had its premiere in Buffalo at the North American New Musical Festival on April 12, 1991.

"Moderate PAC," a new, corporate, faux-democratic scam PAC that throws Palestinians under the bus
March 2, 2023, 4:25 p.m.
A new, supposedly Democratic, political action committee (PAC) has
arisen, dedicated to cultivating what it refers to as “moderate
policies.” It stands against Republicans, as it supports only Democrats,
but primarily, it aims to move the Democratic party to the right. It’s
the latest iteration of conservative efforts to revive the classical
conservatism that has been drowned by right-wing fanaticism, creating
the so-called “Never-Trump Republicans” who don’t have a political home
for the moment.
But it also holds serious dangers for Palestine advocacy. ...
After this discussion, we'll hear Abdaljawad Omar's detailed report of the recent week of Israeli violence, presented by Nora Barrows on episode 72 of the Electronic Intifada.

Sonic Cafe #328/Birds Aren’t Real
March 1, 2023, 11:46 p.m.
Sonic Café, Bluebirds Over the Mountain, music from Robert Plant and Chrissie Hynde. And yes we hate to break it to you like this but birds are not real. Just wanted to rip the band-aid off that fact right now. I’m host Scott Clark and this is episode 328. This time the Sonic Café presents the satirical conspiracy of Peter McIndoe, a Gen Z dude who got sick of all the crazy conspiracy theories floating around and decided to create a conspiracy of his own with the most absurd thing he could think of… Birds Aren’t Real. A world where every bird is a government drone that uses power lines to recharge. Now that’s a conspiracy we can really get behind at the Sonic Café. We’ll let Peter explain the whole thing to you in a music mix pulled from 63 years. And yeah, each tune is about birds, of course. Listen for the White Stripes, Bob Marley, Rusted Root, Dave Matthews, It’s A Beautiful Day, Roger Waters, even Charlie Parker’s Yardbird Suite performed by the Modern Jazz Quartet featuring Sonny Rollins from 1959. So join us as we embrace the lunacy of our conspiracy filled lives and let yourself become a bird truther for just a bit, because you know, Birds Aren’t Real, from our little café out here in the Pacific northwest, here’s Rare Birds, from the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, and we’re the Sonic Café.

This was a long time coming, I first conceived of this episode when I found the GOPAC video in early 2020. The setup to the entire episode is staggering, pay close attention to the “Bi-Partisan” rhetoric used by Ms. Gingrich in comparison to what he was saying outside the chamber. In this winding talk, I touch on so many topics; all surround the content included in the opening clips. A statement I make early that drives the foundational message is that Capitalism needs to tear apart communities to succeed. Look around you and see the proof I speak of. If Capitalism didn’t need to tear apart communities then the United States, as well as the many post-colonial countries subjugated by the U.S during their post-WW2 retaking of the third word; wouldn’t look the way they do. In both instances communities are shadowy things that rely on long bound indigenous bonds to keep them from completely shattering. Where such bounds are not available, the communities disintegrate rapidly into dust driven places called neighborhoods. Wait, those sound familiar. Maybe, in reality the dust driven places aren’t called neighborhoods but something else entirely. Either way, this single point is massively important to seeing the entire picture I paid in this episode. Family, make sure you look up the entire video when done with this podcast, the rest if really something powerful when consumed properly.

Again, an episode (though here it is technically a segment) a long time in coming, frankly another episode on Patriotism, more organized than this one, will be coming in the future. But, for the topic it treats, this one is a slap in the mouth. Chivalry binds the content together, specifically what Chivalry is and how its aspects have been transposed to the new world. Chivalrous rules have been reborn in Neo-Colonial Corporate Conservatism. Patriotism is Chivalry in the New Age, in the Imperial Age. I leave out specifics of the principles I am eluding to (deliberately as they are less important right now then they will be in the future) yet the gist is layered heavy enough for the keen mind to spot the references unsaid or unexpressed. From there, I delve into the karmic aspect of Patriotism, this is purely antidotal and theoretical but it makes for a fun journey around and through the topic of expressed patriotism in the United States.
Music Used in the opening, Curtis Mayfield’s Think, Brandy’s The Definition and Marvin Gaye’s Inner City Blues

Philanthropy Together’s Tyeshia Wilson
March 1, 2023, 12:24 a.m.
Many perceive philanthropy to be the exclusive domain of the super wealthy. Those people are apparently unaware of the efforts of this week’s guest on Sea Change Radio. Giving circles are a way for people of more modest means to give philanthropically – these are smaller groups of individuals who collectively allocate resources to what they deem as worthy charitable organizations and community projects. Today we are speaking with Tyeshia “Ty” Wilson, the Director of Engagement at a nonprofit called Philanthropy Together whose mission is to advance charitable giving that is people-centered and equitable. We learn all about giving circles, how her organization facilitates them, and the importance of Black-led collective giving.

Leo makes his long-awaited return to the China Shop this week to talk about OFL's plans for the new year! Listen in as we discuss Leo's recently published Trading Playbook, focusing on preparation, trade management and confidence. We also talk about orderflow and reading the DOM and how new traders should work to incorporate those tools before wrapping up with an explanation of the new "autoplot" study coming out this week.
About Leo:
Leo started his trading journey with options mainly through options data/flow tools, after getting tired of trying to find the next mover and carrying overnight risk he then found the futures market. His focus is now mostly on ES and NQ. His favorite OF Labs study is the buy and sell zones because they help automate the process of finding areas where the pullback in the market gives you the best risk/reward to take the continuation trade.
About OrderFlow Labs:
OFL is a group of die-hard futures traders and a C++ Wizard who have a passion for trading the futures market using Orderflow tools.
Orderflow Labs was created as a collective effort of our own work and experience trading the futures markets. Our goal is simple, we aim to help both new and experienced traders gain confidence, reduce your screen time and help you refine your edge.
