Who's seen "Paradise Park", lately? It used to be my favorite park in Richmond because it was nothing but these oddly-shaped, silver, concrete forms. They were arranged in such away that the only possible explanation of their placement could have been some classified, cold-war anti-Soviet, mind-control project. Now a bunch of youngsters went and livened the place up. It looks awesome. I miss the futurist mysticism of the previous incarnation, but now it looks like a place kids would play. Respect.

radio613 returns to the airwaves in time for the the Holy Period between the New Year and Yom Kippur. Beginning with sounds from Aviâs chevrusa study at Yeshivat Hadar this summer. The show features an interview with lifelong anti-racist activist Tema Okun â one of the organizers of the upcoming North Carolina Havurah Yom Kippur Retreat. Tema speaks about the possibility of uplift through a process of Teshuva in the context of the ongoing Occupation of Palestine. Efforts to bridge anti-oppressive politics with religious practice and community building are also explored. The show concludes with a Rosh Hashanah themed Hasidic tale about the Baal Shem Tov.

Consumption has outpaced discoveries for nearly 30 years now. Thatâs not a situation that can last.
