The Need for Environment Hamilton.
Rain now falls in torrents that we have never seen before, and our cities are not built to deal with such fast and heavy amounts of water.
These heavy down pours are not storms that will come once or twice a year â they will be the norm. So how can we protect our homes from flooding?
By better infrastructure and sewer systems, and by better planning.
What we need to stop doing is cutting down trees and putting pavement on the ground.
With all of this flood - rain falling it just has to be absorbed into the ground and the water needs to be taken up by trees. Otherwise it has no where to go but across the surface of the pavement picking up Oil and other pollutants, that flood homes.
How can communities save themselves from the developer mind-set that is 50 years out of date?
The best way is to form a citizens action group â educate yourselves about what laws do exists concerning your environment, and work locally to make changes.
Environment Hamilton is just one of these groups â founded by ordinary citizens that want change. They have managed to install new bus routes, stop polluters, and work with different Corporations to gain a better understanding between business and the people that live next to them.

As we approach the end of the decade,we also face a changing of the guard in the nostalgia music for the generation that will be coming of age (20 somethings) in the next decade.
I did a show about a year ago focusing on the 90's and explaining how it will be the new "retro" music in a couple of years and by doing these '90's retrospective shows I will be putting myself on the vanguard (that's right, the VANGUARD!) of this next wave and by doing so,hopefully have some influence in the direction this wave goes because as I mentioned in last years show,we don't want to have another fiasco like we did when disco came back in the mid 90's as that decades "retro" music.

B.C. government slashes arts funding

In August, the Liberal government announced a 20% reduction in funding to the arts and cultural sector with much deeper cuts to come next year. Am Johal says you would have to go back to the 1960s to see budgets that low for arts funding in the province.
