Welcome to "The Radio Art Hour," a show where art is not just on the radio, but is the radio. "The Radio Art Hour" draws from the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource that aims to identify, coalesce, and celebrate historical and contemporary international radio artworks made by artists around the world, created specifically for terrestrial AM/FM broadcast, whether it be via commercial, public, community, or independent transmission. Come on a journey with us as radio artists explore broadcast radio space through poetic resuscitations and playful celebrations/subversions of the complex relationship between senders and receivers in this hour of radio about radio as an art form. "The Radio Art Hour" features introductions from Philip Grant and Tom Roe, and from Wave Farm Radio Art Fellows Karen Werner, Andy Stuhl, and Jess Speer. The Conet Project's recordings of numbers radio stations serve as interstitial sounds. Go to wavefarm.org for more information about "The Radio Art Hour" and Wave Farm's Radio Art Archive.

Episode 480: Whistle me a tune REPOST
Sept. 14, 2022, 4:59 p.m.
SIPS – On this episode we discuss whiskey from Whistle Pig, Broadleaf, Larceny, Elijah Craig and Old Fitzgerald. We should change our cast screening question to add – “What does fresh Saran Wrap smell like?” The only thing I get is a hint of BS marketing swill. A cigar mogul creates a crossover whiskey brand with a very close friend of the show. And Heaven Hill keeps knocking it out of the park. #earlybird whiskey is already trademarked by us
Episode 481: 50% chance this is the best ever

SIPS – On this episode we discuss Vermouth. We decided to look at how Vermouth is featured in 5 different cocktails. We cover some general background on Vermouth where we clearly establish Barger is the expendable cast member. It’s not all sweet or dry, but it’s all tasty. There is something here for everyone to fall in love with Vermouth.

Howard Zinn Centennial: The Occupation of The United States (ONE of TWO)
Sept. 13, 2022, 10:39 p.m.
Howard Zinn spoke about the United States as occupied territory. He said that political and ideological power have been seized by a small group of radical anti-democratic ideologues.
Howard Zinn was a historian, author, professor, playwright, and activist. He taught political science at Boston University and wrote more than 20 books, including his best-selling and influential A People’s History of the United States. Zinn died suddenly in January 2010. He was about to give two major talks in Santa Monica, CA.
He grew up in Brooklyn in a working-class, immigrant household. At 18 he became a shipyard worker and then joined the Air Force and flew bombing missions during World War II. These experiences helped shape his opposition to war and his strong belief in the importance of knowing history.
Zinn spoke on October 17, 2006, for NOWAR, the Northwestern University Peace Project. Thanks to Dale Lehman at WZRD for the recording.

Well, if you’re treading into the investment world for the first time, here’s one you should know – the ETF, or exchange-traded fund. This week on Sea Change Radio, we learn about the ETF market from Jon Maier, the Chief Investment Officer of GlobalX ETFs. ETFs are one of the largest segments of the financial services industry even though many of us don’t know the first thing about them. We discuss how ETFs work, what has helped propel them into a $10 trillion industry, and how monitoring ETFs lends insight into trends such as the future of electric vehicles in China. Then, we revisit our 2021 discussion with impact investment pioneer Raj Thamotheram about how the socially responsible investing field has changed over the years.

Vancouver-based writer David Spaner recently published a new book, *Solidarity: Canada's Unknown Revolution of 1983* (Ronsdale Press, 2021). The resistance that it documents -- to a right-wing provincial government in British Columbia -- was one of the largest grassroots uprisings in Canadian history and came within a hairsbreadth of becoming a general strike, but it is little remembered today.
