Welcome to "The Radio Art Hour," a show where art is not just on the radio, but is the radio. "The Radio Art Hour" draws from the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource that aims to identify, coalesce, and celebrate historical and contemporary international radio artworks made by artists around the world, created specifically for terrestrial AM/FM broadcast, whether it be via commercial, public, community, or independent transmission. Come on a journey with us as radio artists explore broadcast radio space through poetic resuscitations and playful celebrations/subversions of the complex relationship between senders and receivers in this hour of radio about radio as an art form. "The Radio Art Hour" features introductions from Philip Grant and Tom Roe, and from Wave Farm Radio Art Fellows Karen Werner, Jess Speer, and Andy Stuhl. The Conet Project's recordings of numbers radio stations serve as interstitial sounds. Go to wavefarm.org for more information about "The Radio Art Hour" and Wave Farm's Radio Art Archive.

is Capitalism Christian Dr Robert Jensen
Nov. 16, 2021, 12:36 p.m.
Latin waves host Sylvia Richardson speaks with Robert Jensen about our âdead cultureâ of state Fundamentalism.
Jensen says that absolute beliefs that ignore lifeâs complexities are used to support the politics of empire. He gives examples of these, including market fundamentalism (capitalism), moral fundamentalism (of spreading âdemocracyâ), or technological fundamentalism â the belief that technology will solve the environmental problems it causes.
Jensen claims that capitalist fundamentalism is in fact incompatible with Christianity, which. like many the other great religions, are calls to recognize the universal human family. He describes alternative types of power that can lead to a hopeful future.

Call them terrorists! Israel's recent strategy to shut down Palestinian human rights groups
Nov. 15, 2021, 7:53 p.m.
In late October, the Israeli government declared six Palestinian human rights groups to be âterror organizationsâ â a designation that criminalizes their work under Israeli law and enables Israel to seize assets, arrest staff, prohibit funding, and punish public expressions of support and solidarity. With this terror designation, the Israeli government has escalated its longtime efforts to crush Palestinian organizations that document Israelâs ongoing violations of Palestinian human rights and seek to hold Israel accountable. Leading human & civil rights experts â Jamil Dakwar (ACLU), Rabea Eghbariah (Adalah), and Dima Khalidi (Palestine Legal) discuss the work of the targeted Palestinian NGOs, the context and impact of this terror designation, reactions from governments and NGOs in the U.S. and the EU, and expectations of impact. The discussion begins with the first question asked by moderator, Lara Friedman, President of the Foundation for Middle East Peace who sponsored this forum.

Nov. 15, 2021, 3:12 p.m.
A classic and funny satiric monologue from 1962 by the great radio humorist / satirist / storyteller Jean Shepherd.
Shepherd pokes fun at American life--including our crazy junk, our unrealistic "realistic" TV shows; our love of doing things just to see if they can be done; the rationalizations we concoct to justify space flights and war; and our favorite rhetorical question, "Who's covering up?"
Condensed by--and with a brief introduction by--KD.
