The state of the present situation facing indigenous people all around the world is the focus of the episode of the Global Research News Hour. And without negating persistent racist themes, this is a positive and hopeful episode. Part one is a conversation with Dr Rudolph Ryser, the chair of the Center for World Indigenous studies. Dr Ryser has for more than forty-five-years worked in the field of Indian Affairs as a writer/researcher and as Indian Rights advocate. Part two is a documentary put together in the past month. An example of the current threat posed to the people of Hollow Water First Nation as they face a company called Canadian Premium Sands seeking to mine huge amounts of silica sand from the territory and the devastation critics say would result for their land, their water and their health.

Given the involvement of the Canadian military with organizations like the "World Ukrainian Congress," there is a question of overlapping interests.
As usual, our 'elected representatives' are as silent as a TOMB on these issues. If they're not already calling for greater belligerence.
Alex Tyrrell fights for peace and the environment

Phil Taylor comments on the Green Party executive's persecution of Quebec Green Party leader Alex Tyrrell. The executive says that Alex Tyrrell 'brings the party into disrepute.' But he actually brings the Green Party into repute. For example, he supported General Motors Oshawa workers who were facing plant closure. Just one example of him developing credibility with a community.
But the executive isn't serious. They accuse Tyrrell of supporting "Putin," themselves using the grade-school terminology of our leaders and media. Isn't the Green Party, by its nature, supposed to be out-of-step with the establishment? What happened?

Nidal explains what his organization (1for3) has been doing every day, and the never-ending Israeli hassles it and its flock manage somehow to withstand.
As Nidal explains, the Aida refugee camp is an Israeli construct. Palestinians, robbed of their longtime homes, were pushed into camps like this. It’s under military occupation and constant threat of Israeli violence. Seventy years in, Israel’s leaders continue to pound its victims with lethal violence and theft. For example, fragmentation of the West Bank continues to grow, blocking Palestinian farmers from their farms, and robbing their precious water. Using weapons made in the USA, Israeli soldiers’ war training uses Palestinians as targets. Nidal himself was shot in the foot from an Israeli helicopter.
Nidal reports on two celebrated accomplishments by the Aida community, not yet destroyed by Israelis. One is a fabulous new school which has become famous for the excellence of its special ed program. Architect Hubert Murray (husband of our very own saint, Nancy Murray) played a major part in this project. The other was rooftop gardens, hindered however by more Israeli water theft.
