New Stage in Palestinian Struggle
May 19, 2021, 11:11 a.m.
Phil applauded the series of sizeable Palestinian solidarity rallies that took place across Canada on short notice the previous week, as well as those in the USA, Europe, and around the world.
In France, Macron forbade demonstrations but they happened anyway. Last year, Macron marched with the King of Jordan and head of the Palestinian Authority and other world leaders in support of the human rights of people at Charlie Hebdo. But where the rights of Palestinians were concerned, Macron has tried to prevent demonstrations in their favour.
At the United Nations, the U.S. delayed a joint statement by the Security Council for a week. Instead of cooperating with the UN to bring justice and peace to Palestine, the U.S. is trying to keep ownership of the issue by sending an envoy to begin "talks". And they included an Egyptian to provide camouflage. But no one is fooled by this trick.

Israel's Bombing of Gaza - May 2021
May 18, 2021, 3:11 p.m.
Thanks to Amy Goodman and Chris Hedges for the moving presentations on the status of Palestinians.
Democracy Now re-broadcast congresswoman Rashida Tlaibâs courageous speech of May 13 on the floor of the House.
Rashida Tlaib says that she is a reminder to colleagues that Palestinians exist, that we are human and we dream. She calls for Apartheid and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians to end.
She points out that currently military support of Israel is unconditional and that Israel as the largest recipient of security assistance from the US does not comply with federal laws and international human rights standards.
Chris Hedges is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Presbyterian minister, author and television host of On Contact. He was a foreign correspondent and bureau chief in the Middle East and the Balkans for fifteen years.
Here are excerpts of his 27 minute interview with Doctor Sami Al-Arian, Director of the Center for Islamic and Global Affairs in Istanbul - posted on line on May 17, 2021
Al-Arian says that claiming the right to defend itself Israel is violating international law by bombing Palestinians in their occupied lands. The US is enabling Israel with money and weapons i.e. $38 billion in defense aid over the next decade.
He also wants us to remember that the current conflict began with the attempt to evict Palestinians from their homes in Jerusalem and the attack on Arab worshipers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
From the River to the Sea Palestine Must be Free with Prof. Rashid Khalidi
May 18, 2021, 9:46 a.m.
From the River to the Sea Palestine Must be Free " Free, Free Palestine!
with Rashid Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University and author of The Hundred Years War on Palestine
73 years since the onset of the catastrophe, with Apartheid Israel having believed Palestinian memories would fade away, has witnessed unity and courage of a people unbowed, relentlessly fighting for their land and rights, and resisting the last of the colonial monsters.
As in all anti-colonial struggles there is an agonising high price to pay. The death toll rises hourly in Gaza, the West Bank and throughout Palestine. The international community cannot remain indifferent, and it has been uplifting for the beleaguered Palestinian people to see they are not alone in their struggle for survival.

Well have an introduction to Elizabeth Ann, a ferret cloned from cells frozen in 1987.
Theres a lot of great music to sing and dance to while we learn all about black footed ferrets!

Aseel Al Bajeh and Budour Hassen on the struggle to save Sheikh Jarrah
May 17, 2021, 8:11 p.m.
The struggle to save Sheikh Jarrah for Palestinians is a long one. In fact, in 2008, while on a delegation to Palestine, we personally visited Sheikh Jarrah during one of the earliest settler takeovers of a Palestinian dwelling in the complex. Israeli settlers had literally occupied a portion of a Palestinian home and lived there simultaneously in the house while the original owners were still living there. This is exactly what is still happening today as settlers are attempting to seize the entire development. Sheikh Jarrah was established by the Jordanian government in 1950 to provide homes for Palestinian driven off their land by as a result of the Israeli military invasions of 1948 and 1967. Yet the occupying Jews are claiming they are recovering their land, which was stolen by Palestinians. The claim is outrageous. Deeds to the land owned by Palestinians go all the way back to the Ottoman Empire.
Here to discuss the current situation in Sheikh Jarrah are Aseel Al Bajeh, legal researcher and Advocacy Officer at Al Haq, and author and journalist, Budour Hassen. The conversation is moderated by Lara Friedman, executive director of the Foundation for Middle East Peace in Washington, DC.

interviews author/activist Yves Engler on Palestine
May 17, 2021, 3:18 p.m.
Latin Waves host Sylvia Richardson speaks with Yves Engler author of the Black Book of Canadian Foreign Policy.
As Israel intensified its occupation over the last decades, it has steadily built settlements, took
control of water supplies, and laid its âapartheid wallâ and separate road system across the West Bank (with the consequence of severely damaging
the Palestinian economy). In Jerusalem, Israel has been
persistently ethnically-cleansing East Jerusalem in a deliberate, planned policy of âJudaizatiionâ through forced evictions, house demolitions, arcane judicial rulings on housing rights, and building new blocks for Israeli settlers.
Yves Engler speaks of the global solidarity movement for Palestinians, and the lessons in resistance. Why solidarity matters and what is lost when fail to speak and act
against imperialist aggression,
