Israel's so-called Normalization process: we continue our examination
Jan. 27, 2021, 7:51 p.m.
In our broadcast today we continue our examination of Israel's so-called Normalization process. The Trump administration and the government of Israel, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have devised a Middle East "peace plan" without the involvement of Palestinian leaders, and have concluded agreements to normalize relations between Israel and a widening circle of Arab regimes -- the so-called "Abraham Accords."
This program is taken from a webinar forum sponsored by the Center for Islam Decolonality hosted by Syed Mustapha Ali. It is focused on Pakistan which is currently under pressure to join the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia and others in treaties to normalize relations between their countries and Israel.
This panel consists of Israeli historian Ilan Pappe, foreign policy analyst Phyllis Bennis, and religious scholar Mark Braverman. It begins with introductions by panel host and moderator Syed Mustafa Ali.
World Says No to War on Yemen Global Day of Action!
Jan. 27, 2021, 7:21 p.m.
On January 25th, just days after the U.S. presidential inauguration, we are demanding that President Biden commit to the following during his first 100 days:
â Restore all humanitarian and food aid to Yemen, including USAID that was cut by President Trump at the beginning of the pandemic
â Stop arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates
â Stop all US involvement in the war in Yemen including intelligence and logistics support.
â Pressure Saudi Arabia to stop the blockade that is starving Yemen.
â lift the designation of the Houthis as a terrorist organization
As part of a global campaign to end the barbaric Saudi/U.S. War on Yemen, Chicago activists rallied to demand the new administration to stop enabling with the war on Yemen. Famine, cholera and Covid-19 have been weaponized by the U.S., Britian and Saudi Arabia in addition to the physical destruction brought to bare on the Yemeni people who will not submit to colonial rule. The U.S. could end the Saudi navel embargo that has cut off food and essential supplies tonight if it saw it's cost greater than the benefit. Participants intend to raise the cost for politicians who have supported the war and for criminal organizations like the Boeing Company who profit from providing the means to deliver death and destruction.
A new documentary "Hunger Ward" looks at what it means to starve children as a tool of United States foreign policy.

Prof. Michael Hudson on the Rentier Economy
Jan. 26, 2021, 4:15 p.m.
In December 2020, Lynn Fries, founder and producer of GPEnewsdocs interviewed the economist Michael Hudson. Lynnâs focus is on the global political economy.
Among contemporary economists Michael Hudson uses and refines terms that explain the specific brand of todayâs finance capitalism. That includes the acronym âFIREâ and the term âRentier Economyâ. The FIRE sector, says Hudson, stands for Finance, Insurance and Real Estate. Hudson uses the term to make clear that we are experiencing a huge power shift from industrial to finance capitalism.
Lynn Fries wrote in a brief introduction on her website that she wanted to explore with Michael Hudson how: âAllied with landlords and monopolists, this powerful finance sector is extracting economic rents from the economy thatâs impoverishing US government, as well as industry and labor. And how the chokehold of pro-finance, pro-rentier capitalism is reaching into the present COVID-19 crisis.â
TUC Radio presents excerpts from her 40 minute interview recorded on December 23, 2020.
Michael Hudson is research professor of Economics at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and research associate at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College. His latest - timely - book is ⦠and forgives them their debts: Lending, Foreclosure and Redemption from Bronze Age Finance to the Jubilee Year.
Lynn Friesâ research and video-journalism began in NYC in 2007. From then to 2019 her work was core to developing The Real News Network. She left TRNN in 2019, following the departure of TRNNâs founders. For the full interview and a transcript go to <https://gpenewsdocs.com/> or to the website of <theAnalysis.news>.
Derek Walker: New Sheriffs on Climate Action
Jan. 26, 2021, 1:05 p.m.
Which of the Trump-era environmental transgressions made your heart hurt the most? Was it when they loosened CO2 emission restrictions on power plants, removed protections from wetlands, or expanded drilling in all sorts of delicate ecosystems? Or perhaps it was the withdrawal from the Paris Climate Change Agreement that wounded you most deeply? It's hard to choose, really. But chin up, there's a new sheriff in town. This week on Sea Change Radio, we speak with Derek Walker, the VP for US Climate at the Environmental Defense Fund, about what we can expect from the new Biden Administration. We talk about specific environmental policies, some of the heads of key environmental agencies, and the importance of the US rejoining the Paris Agreement.
