Dec. 8, 2020, 8:10 p.m.
Laura Briggs, Taking Children. For 400 years the United States has taken children for political ends. Black children, Native children, Latinx children, and the children of the poor. In chilling detail we see how Central Americans were made into a population that could be stripped of their children who would be put in Trump's concentration camps. Mike Hastie joined the protests in Portland, Oregon as part of the Wall of Vets. He was pepper-sprayed in the face by Trump's storm troopers.
Lloyd Alter: Design Trends in Housing + E-Bikes
Dec. 8, 2020, 5:18 p.m.
2020 has certainly been a strange year. Everyone is waiting for things to go "back to normal" but what will normal be? Will there be any adaptations from this period that become permanent? Will we all be telecommuting and zooming indefinitely? Will urban centers continue to empty out? This week on Sea Change Radio, we speak to design professor and environmental journalist Lloyd Alter. We discuss the trend of people leaving cities for less dense pastures, look at new ways to consider home design now that so many of us are housebound, and take a look at buying options for one of the products that has seen a COVID-19 boom: electric bikes.
From Pearl Harbor to Hiroshima - Part TWO of TWO Arjun Makhijani - TUC Radio Archives
Dec. 8, 2020, 2:39 p.m.
Arjun Makhijani asks how it had been possible to exclude almost all military and civilian leaders of the WWII war effort from the Pentagon to the US government, including even the Vice President, and all but a handful of members of Congress, from knowing about and influencing the Manhattan Project.
Among the few in charge was the engineer and inventor Vannevar Bush. He was the first presidential science advisor and coordinated around 6,000 scientists working on war technologies. Bush was director of the Office of Scientific Research and Development (OSRD) in the Roosevelt White House, the very organization that initiated the Manhattan Project.Â
Arjun Makhijani holds a Ph.D. in engineering, specializing in nuclear fusion, from the University of California at Berkeley. He has written books and articles on the nuclear fuel cycle, weapons production, testing, workers' exposure to radiation and nuclear waste. He is President of the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research, IEER, in Maryland. Their web site is http://ieer.org/Â
He spoke spoke on August 4, 2012 at the Nuke Free Now Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Canada Must Do the Right Thing and Release Meng Wanzhou
Dec. 7, 2020, 6:53 p.m.
Chris Black terms the arrest and extradition of Meng as illegal under Canada's extradiction act, because it was an explicitly political arrest, in fact, a modern-day kidnapping and hostage-taking.
He also discusses the issue of the rumored plea-bargain raised by the WSJ. The mechanics of any plea deal would, in fact, require that Meng stop resisting the extradition, and voluntarily go to the USA to face a court there. There would be no guarantees for Meng, or Huawei, that the US court would go along with any deal. In such an arrangement, Meng and Huawei might have to agree to fines and conditions that might put future limitations on them.

Ali Abunimah on the "Deal of the Century" and ongoing imperialist attacks on Palestine
Dec. 6, 2020, 11:54 a.m.
Today we bring back one of the most progressive, and passionate Palestinian activists at work today in the US and around the world: Ali Abunimah, co-founder and driving force behind the Palestinian news service, The Electronic Intifada. He spoke at the New York Forum a few weeks ago for an hour and a half. He was introduced and prompted by a woman identifying herself as Maryanne of the People's Plan, NYC (peoplesculturalplan.org).
Usually we would edit such a long presentation down to fit into the time frame for our program, but this is such fabulous, organic presentation that we decided to broadcast the entire recording over two weeks of This Week in Palestine. If you miss one of them you can always go to our archive at truthandjusticeradio.org and find the missing piece. So here is Part 1 of Ali Abunimah speaking at the NY Forum on The Deal of The Century and the Ongoing Imperialist Attacks on Palestine.

Love of their land and culture: meet Dr. Ahmed Abdulmadgeed
Dec. 4, 2020, 7:43 p.m.
The Palestinian narrative is most genuine and most powerful when Palestinians tell their stories of resilience following the ethnic cleansing of their land by Israel in 1948. The love of their land and culture the hold that that love has over their lives resonates generation after generation, even for those who now, years later, live the diaspora. This love of their land and culture is the driving force behind their resistance to occupation.
We came across an interview of Dr. Ahmed Abdulmadgeed who now lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is the son of refugees who were driven out of their Palestinian village during the Nakba in 1948 and fled to Gaza. They moved from Gaza to Qatar where he was born, then to Canada before coming to the US. Ahmed is now a Pharmacist, and his wife a nurse. His story is so typical, even though he has been in the diaspora most of his life. Here is how he handles his identity as a Palestinian and a Muslim.
The interview takes place at the Indiana Center for Middle East Peace, and is conducted by its director, Dr. Michael Spath.
