Belgium Co-operating With Rwanda Kidnapper Regime
Oct. 16, 2020, 10:47 a.m.
Paul Rusesabagina, featured in the film "Hotel Rwanda," is now in custody in Kigali, Rwanda, having been kidnapped from the UAE.
Rusesabagina is a Belgian citizen and a resident of the USA. Belgium gave him refugee status because of the danger he faced in Rwanda.
The Prosecutor of Rwanda announced a group indictment against 16 people, including Rusesabagina. He also thanked Belgian authorities for giving permission to search Rusesabagina's residence in Belgium, the contents of which would be used against him.
On October 1, 1990, the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) invaded Rwanda from and with the help of neighbouring Uganda. The leader of the RPF, Paul Kagame, was a Ugandan general who received training in the USA.
Western governments welcome the RPF representatives to their countries, and ignored the protests of the legitimate government of President Habyarimana's Rwanda.

The perfect program for the 2020 election campaigns!

Sonic Cafe #209/A Bit Twisted: Jim Gaffigan
Oct. 15, 2020, 8:27 a.m.
Sonic Café with a great old school Beastie Boys remix of Body Movinâ, so ahh whatâs goinâ on? Iâm Scott Clark and this is episode 209. This time the Sonic Café brings you a bit twisted, featuring the stand up of Jim Gaffigan, a comedian who has the reputation of being a clean comic, never relying on profanity for a quick laugh, something we really appreciate. In fact in 2013 the Wall Street Journal crowned him the King of Clean comedy. Never thought of the Journal as a bastion of comedy⦠but there you go. Originally from Indiana, Jim credits fellow hoosier David Letterman for inspiring his pursuit of comedy. The Sonic Café brings you an anthology of Gaffigans material, including Hot Pockets, a bit thatâs been called his Stairway to Heaven, plus cuts from many of his releases including 2019âs Quality Time. As you may have guessed, we feel Jimâs just twisted enough to fit in nicely with are cast of regulars here at the Sonic Café. Weâll wrap Gaffiganâs stand-up in a music mix skimmed from the last 52 years including Nina Simone, Garbage, Einsteinâs Sister, The Cure, Tom Petty and more. All this time as the Sonic Café presents the twisted observations of Jim Gaffigan in another slightly twisted hour of intelligent, eclectic music, comedy and pop culture from the Pacific northwest, weâre the Sonic Café.

Dalton, Joan — Dogs in Juvenile Hall
Oct. 14, 2020, 8:51 p.m.
I once had the good fortune of seeing âIf Animals Could Talk,â a movie made by Jane Goodall. A segment was about The MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, Oregon. The boys incarcerated there have committed serious criminal offenses; some of them are given an opportunity to train dogs, develop relationships with the dogs and in doing so learn responsibility, patience and respect for other living creatures. There is a zero recidivism rate among the juvenile inmates who spend time training dogs at MacLaren.
Joan Dalton is the founder and executive director of Project Pooch, a non-profit corporation linked with MacLaren, where incarcerated youths train shelter dogs and find them homes. We visited by phone from her home near Portland, Oregon on February 15, 2010 and began our conversation when I asked her to tell us how Project Pooch came about and then about Project Pooch itself.
The books that Joan Dalton recommends are âChildren And Animals: Exploring The Roots Of Kindness And Cruelty,â by Frank R. Ascione and âRescue Ink: How Ten Guys Saved Countless Dogs and Cats, Twelve Horses, Five Pigs, One Duck, and a Few Turtles,â by Rescue Ink and Denise Flaim.
Donald Drumpf Theatre Volume 196 Super Spreader
Oct. 14, 2020, 8:12 p.m.
An original radio theatre show each week, with most sounds culled from the previous week, about a fictional, theatrical presidency. Contradictions tell the story, with songs, skits, and clips from political news shows and late-night comedy routines. The definition of "radio theatre" is stretched here, with an updated Dickie Goodman and/or Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style sometimes, and a more straightforward take other weeks. Currently airing on 30 or 40 stations around the world, the network has ordered another five months of episodes. Anyone who would like to work on a production, or have their work air in this timeslot, should contact info@wgxc.org.

Hurricanes & Climate Change: Dr. Jennifer Francis
Oct. 13, 2020, 5:37 p.m.
Jennifer Francis became Senior Scientist at the Woods Hole Research Center after being a research professor at Rutgers Universityâs Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences.
She gave an interview to Miami Herald reporter Alex Harris on Hurricanes & Climate Change a day after the beginning of the official annual hurricane season that goes from June first to November 30th, giving a forecast that in essence came true.
Live on Zoom this became one of the most detailed and fact-filled conversations about how natural phenomena such as El Nino and La Nina, and even dust storms from the Sahara desert, interact with warmer oceans and one foot higher sea levels and changes in the ocean currents that make hurricane seasons longer and stronger. All this plays out in the Gulf of Mexico and up the East of the US
Alex Harris is staff reporter for the Miami Herald with an impressive grad student level of understanding of the science.
Recorded via Zoom on 6/2/2020
Howard Frumkin: Time For A Planetary Checkup
Oct. 13, 2020, 2:48 p.m.
When a member of your household feels unwell, a good first step is to find the thermometer â if thereâs a fever, it could be something serious. Well, these days our planet is exhibiting signs of illness, from swarms of locusts in East Africa and southwest Asia, to the smoke spreading from Californiaâs infernos, to a massive release of greenhouse gasses from once-frozen, now-burning Siberia. And Covid itself may serve as both a metaphor and an exemplar of the inextricable connection between the planetâs health and that of our species. This week on Sea Change Radio, we speak to Howard Frumkin, a physician and environmentalist who recently coauthored a book entitled Planetary Health: Protecting Nature to Protect Ourselves. We talk about how the pandemic exposes planetary health issues related to food, population, and politics, and touch on what we can do to bring the patientâs fever down.
