Donald Drumpf Theatre Volume 195 Take Me Down to the Hospital

Oct. 8, 2020, 7:56 a.m.
An original radio theatre show each week, with most sounds culled from the previous week, about a fictional, theatrical presidency. Contradictions tell the story, with songs, skits, and clips from political news shows and late-night comedy routines. The definition of "radio theatre" is stretched here, with an updated Dickie Goodman and/or Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style sometimes, and a more straightforward take other weeks. Currently airing on 30 or 40 stations around the world, the network has ordered another three months of episodes. Anyone who would like to work on a production, or have their work air in this timeslot, should contact info@wgxc.org.

Sonic Cafe #208/Spy GUYZ: Somebody's Watching YOU!

Oct. 8, 2020, 7:53 a.m.
Sonic Café, yes they are watching you, that’s the Police from 1983’s Synchronicity album release. Hey, I’m Scott Clark and this is episode 208, which, if my arithmetic is correct, means our little radio café has been open four years now, so ahh happy anniversary to us. Yeah, so this time the Sonic Café brings you another episode of Spy GUYZ, and this time it’s your government that’s doing the prying and spying. With your right to privacy quickly vanishing into the rear view mirror, the Sonic Café shares the top 10 ways somebody is probably watching you right now, courtesy of the Infographics Show. Then listen for comedian Ron Funches, for some strange reason Ron thinks the government may be lying to us. Then later British comedian Rhys James fears his laptop just might be spying on him. Wow. Just Wow. All this conspiracy and paranoia wrapped in a music mix from 31 years. Listen for Hall & Oates, Elvind Aarset, Black Eyed Peas, Beck, Massive Attack and of course more, as we celebrate our fourth anniversary with an episode of Spy GUYZ from that little café in the Pacific Northwest where even though our therapist says it’s crazy talk, we know somebody is watching us, ahh right now, we’re the Sonic Café.

Gottlieb, Dr. Dan — Our Body Holds Our Life's Truth

Oct. 7, 2020, 8:37 p.m.
Dr. Dan Gottlieb is a psychotherapist, author and host of Voices in the Family, a weekly public radio program originating from WHYY in Philadelphia. In 1980, half his life ago, a wheel from a large truck crushed his car and he has been a quadriplegic ever since. In this interview, we discuss his current work and physical condition. He describes a recent severe accident where he was thrown from his wheelchair on the way to his first class to be a stand-up comic, and suffered a concussion and paralysis of his left arm. Although the pain in his arm remains, he says, “it’s just an arm.” In this program, Dr. Gottlieb describes how trauma changes human hormones and human wiring; and how the body holds the truth of our lives, without judgment or narrative; and his current work to teach compassion to oneself and others. This program was recorded by phone from his home near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 17, 2013, and is a sequel to his other Radio Curious interviews. The books Dan Gottlieb recommends are: “Self Compassion: A Healthier Way of Relating to Yourself,” by Kristin Neff and “Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation,” by Sharon Salzberg.
