It included speakers from many groups who campaign for justice in this society, one poisoned by racism, war and capitalist ideology, who recognize common ground at the root of their fight to achieve decency and equity for their members and for society as a whole.

In England, in the 1830s, at the time of a major cholera epidemic, a young girl, the orphaned daughter of a prostitute, finds that working in a pottery factory does not earn her enough money for herself and her child. She must work at night like her mother, as a prostitute. Having virtually no money, she rents her dress, and is followed while she walks the streets so that she will not run off with her outfit. She is called a dress lodger. Shari Holman, a native of rural Virginia, and later a resident of Brooklyn, New York, has researched the lives of girls who were dress lodgers in England in the 1830s. She is the author of a book of historical fiction about Gustine, a 15-year-old dress lodger who lived and worked in Sunderland, England in 1831, entitled âThe Dress Lodger.â

What was learned at Xinjiang panel

Phil Taylor and Phil Conlon reviewed the Zoom panel discussion of Friday, March 19, 2021 entitled "Genocide in Xinjiang - a Zoom panel of discovery."

Phil Conlon especially appreciated the contributions of the Consul-General, who noted that China had successfully provided safe drinking water to Uyghur residents of Xinjiang some years ago, unlike Canada which has yet to provide the same to First Nations communities in Canada.
The Consul-General invited Canadians to come to Xinjiang to see the true situation for themselves.
Taylor also enjoyed the contributions of the Grayzone's Max Blumenthal, whose publication has done solid work debunking the lies and shoddy research methods of "anthropologist" Adrian Zenz, the originator of the Uyghur genocide narrative.
Interestingly, the Australian senate overwhelmingly rejected virtually the same motion to censure China that passed 266-0 in the Canadian House of Commons.
