Dr. John Campbell on Covid 19 and Air Pollution
June 9, 2020, 3:27 p.m.
When in the last days of May 2020 several respected institutions such as the Harvard School of Public Health, and the All Party Group on Air Pollution in the UK, came up with strong emerging evidence that air pollution is a major contributing factor to the spread of Covid 19, Dr. John Campbell took a closer look. Outdoor air pollution already kills 4.2 million people per year in the world.
Dr. John Campbell is a retired Nurse Teacher in England who has gone through rigorous scientific training. Since the beginning of the pandemic he has walked into his study - once or even twice a day - and turned the camera on for his welcome and given updates on Covid 19. They are archived on his YouTube channel under âcampbellteachingâ.
Always friendly, personal with the scientific sources for his topics displayed on handmade slides - he explains complicated processes in no nonsense practical terms. Dr. John Campbell recorded this lesson on Air Pollution on May 31, 2020
Maurice Plaines on America's Epidemic of Racism
June 9, 2020, 1:35 p.m.
This has been a difficult stretch for the country with millions sick, out of work, or simply stuck at home. But the horrific murder of George Floyd shifted our collective focus to a very different sort of epidemic. Mr. Floyd joined the names of Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor and thousands of other African Americans who have been killed by the police in this country. We often hear that at times like this we need to have a national conversation about race, but where do we start? Host Alex Wise decided to start with a personal conversation with a longtime friend, to get his insights into what it feels like to grow up Black in America and to better understand the work that needs to be done on the racial justice front. This week on Sea Change Radio, in the first of two conversations about race, we welcome Maurice Plaines, a high school friend of our host who works for Emerging Scholars Program in the DC Metro area. We discuss racism and police brutality in America, his own reaction to George Floyd's murder, and the work of his organization to broaden educational opportunity for students of color.

George Floyd demos becoming American cultural revolution
June 8, 2020, 8:51 p.m.
Phil likens the reaction to the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd to a cultural revolution. People in the US and all over the world are now noticing that the US ruling class has its knee on not only the necks of black people in the USA, but also on the necks of Syrians, Libyans, Iranian, and Venezuelans through illegal sanctions.
He discusses the militarization of police and the significance of the toppling of the statue of Edward Colston in Bristol, England, and calls for the toppling of General Lee in Richmond. In his Gettysburg address Lincoln spoke of government "of the people, by the people, for the people." Phil says the U.S. should implement this dictum and become a people's republic.
With regard to Hong Kong, Phil dissects U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson's threat to give U.K. citizenship to 3 million HK residents. And the CLC's support for western meddling in China's internal affairs.

From Minneapolis to Stonewall: It is no exaggeration to describe it as an epidemic of racist violence

From Minneapolis to Stonewall: It is no exaggeration to describe it as an epidemic of racist violence
Demonstrators representing New Yorks Black and Brown, Transgender community protested racial injustice after the death of George Floyd, who died after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. A crowd shouting Black Trans Lives Matter" marched and blocked traffic on the major traffic artery of Greenwich Village and then rallied in front of the historic Stonewall Inn. Demonstrators carried signs showing faces of transgender people who have been killed by police or were murdered by white supremacist bigots " each activist spoke to the harm of erasing transgender voices.
The signs pointed out the unending rash of violence against trans individuals, particularly transgender women of color, citing the names of the dozen of trans people who have been murdered already this year " Dustin Parker, Neulisa Luciano Ruiz, Yampi Mndez Arocho, Monika Diamond, Lexi, Johanna Metzger, Serena Angelique Velzquez Ramos, Layla Snchez, Penlope Daz Ramrez, Nina Pop, Helle Jae ORegan and Tony McDade.
The protestors rallied at Stonewall to commemorate June as Pride Month, and because it was there they resisted police harassment and brutality, when such violence was common and expected. The Stonewall rebellion was a breakthrough moment when as now protestors refused to accept humiliation and fear as the price of living fully, freely, and authentically.

Episode 2019.08. Analyzing Policing, Gender Supremacy and Police Lives Mattering from a Militarism POV
June 5, 2020, 9 p.m.
I decided not to publish this episode because I thought it was too radical, too harsh - but in light of events, I had to publish this episode. I finished this episode in December 2019.
A few bad apples spoils a bunch, so you remove any bad apples so the bunch wouldnât be spoiled right. However, if upon noticing the spoiled apples you prevent anyone from moving them, then any concerned observer would assume you want the bunch spoiled. Here we find the problem with many Police Union arguments against public accountability. In todayâs episode I tackle this problem while asking you to consider policing as a form of civilian militarism before offering up a prescription of what this society requires to heal itself and bring an end to the carnage President Trump mentioned in his first inauguration speech. We need Social workers, real social workers and teams dedicated to sewing up the social fractures in society, allowing police officers to tackle real crime. To some this will seem like a anti-police officer show, but itâs not, I have sympathy for all those good officers wishing they could pursue their passion for crime solving without the needless hassle of filling quotas and bringing in revenue for over stretched municipalities unable to tax corporations.
