A look at a 70s CB Song Hero....Cledus Maggard. He didn't have a convoy, but takes going to the bathroom to a whole new level. Our Spector Detector tells us to play a song with cheezy lyrics, is the reason we want to play it, and Daffy's got a cold, forcing snarf to think drastic measures of the shenanigan kind to help.

Professor Richard Wolff began with his ten minute news segment.

Patrick Hruby: Sports In The Time Of COVID
Aug. 18, 2020, 5:54 p.m.
Not too long ago, it was fairly normal for many of us to spend 4-5 hours a week yelling at the TV, providing valuable encouragement and critique to athletes who cannot hear us. If you're a sports fan, or if you live with one, you know what I'm talking about. This week on Sea Change Radio, we take a look at how sports are adapting in the time of COVID-19 with sports journalist Patrick Hruby. While Clemson University's star quarterback Trevor Lawrence made some waves by kicking off the #WeWantToPlay meme among college football players, more rational minds like Washington Nationals pitcher Sean Doolittle asserted that sports should be "the reward of a functioning society." Hruby talks about where things stand as sports resume in empty arenas across North America, and about how effective leadership ensures smoother transitions to normalcy. Can sports resume the way the NFL and major league baseball are hoping, or do the leaders of these industries need someone to offer them some good advice from the sidelines?

"Police Don't Keep Us Safe" - " We Keep Us Safe"
Aug. 17, 2020, 12:10 p.m.
Cultural programing followed the press conference demanding that the City of Chicago shut down Homan Square, the Chicago Police Department warehouse used to detain people without registering them in the system, during which time police have been criminally abusing them, so far with impunity, to extract information and confessions. It is an ongoing scandal from the Emanuel administration that continues under the current Mayor.
Melissa Hernandez speaks of her project to keep drug users safe; Maira Khwaja, of the Chicago Police Data Base, of Charles Green and how easy access to police misconduct data enables the community to remove dangerous cops from their communities or clear one's name from a racist conviction that brands one a felon. Last is Madeline Green who speaks of teaching in the dis-invested communities of Gary Indiana and Chicago where by systemic design children whose life chances are undermined by those conditions are tracked toward failure and prison life futures.
The Black Abolitionist Network demands Homan Square be shut down, police impunity for their crimes be ended and money be transferred from the CPD budget and infused into the community to meet the needs that community representatives have long identified would address the existing conditions that promote poor health, poor educational achievement, and deny them healthy and secure lives.
