Ilan Pappé and Maha Rod of KinderUSA on Gaza/West Bank COVID-19
May 14, 2020, 12:43 p.m.
Our feature presentation today is a conversation between Israeli historian Ilan Pappé and Maha Rod of KinderUSA. They discuss the current situation in Gaza and throughout the West Bank during the COVID-19 pandemic, a matter of elevated concern, to say the least. We begin with Maha Rod outlining the work of KinderUSA in Gaza.
Before this, we introduce the ongoing story of the Tufts University administrationâs attack on Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Once again, the Zionist forces are exploiting the ignorance and cowardice of typical administrator types in an effort to smear and impede organizations that campaign for justice for Palestinians.
Tufts University's Office for Campus Life hands out awards to student organizations every year, and its 2020 Collaboration Award was given to Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). The award "is given in recognition of a co-sponsored program that demonstrates synergy and success as a result of working together." That wasn't good enough for Tufts President Anthony Monaco after he was approached by ADL and B'nai Brith with the all-too-common specious accusation of "antisemitism."
In response, letters supporting Tufts SJC began pouring in. SJC's own statement: "It is extremely disheartening to see the Tufts administration push forward these harmful and baseless narrativesâboth for Arab students in our club who remain constant targets of racist accusations and baseless smear campaigns that delegitimize their organizing efforts, and for the Jewish students and organizations involved in this campaign whom [Monaco] entirely erases."
We read one of the letters in support sent by the The Alliance For Water Justice in Palestine. It was drafted by one of its distinguished members, Nancy Murray.

Currently airing on 30 or 40 stations around the world, the network has ordered another 11 months of episodes. Anyone who would like to work on a production, or have their work air in this timeslot, should contact info@wgxc.org.

The COVID-19 crisis threatens working people most, especially when the oligarchs throw the switch and try to drive wage-slaves back into dangerous conditions with no protection. All for lousy wages.
Second, the US war machine continues its drive to divide the world at a time of pandemic. It targets the WHO and the UN. The fight for peace and ending imperialist sanctions is urgent.

#636 -- Howard Zinn: The Power to Change (3)
May 11, 2020, 1:35 p.m.

Part 3 (this week) is (IMHO) the finest part of Zinn's long talk. . . . (Contined under "Credits")
