Jeff Blankfort Final Program: 9/11 Revisited; Bolton Out

On my final program, after nearly 19 years, I begin by thanking the station manager and program director at my station, KZYX, in Mendocino, CA who supported me back in 2001 when pro-Israel critics attempted to have me taken off the air and describe on air moment the day after 9/11 that silenced my critics.
I then speak about the negative impact of 9/11 on US society that would not have been possible without the âPearl Harborâ that the PNAC necons had wished for and note that at least half of Americans do not believe the âofficialâ story.
I went from there to a report in the March 27, 2002, weekly, The Forward, which described, in detail, the arrest of five Israelis, three of them Mossad agents, which would soon be rewritten and posted on the Forward site to put a positive pro-Israel spin on the story.
I report on the firing of John Bolton and the circumstances that made it possible and finish with a commentary on Avi Berkowitz, the Jared Kushner âprotégé,â who has replaced Jason Greenblatt in Trumpâs Jewish covey dealing with the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Episode 2019.06.02. A Clearer More Pronounced Chess Game Unfolds

A composite episode containing many CWB Segments. After a brief introduction from yours truly, I play a cut from an often overlooked and forgotten documentary about the 2000 election, before basting the senses with a great Noam Chomsky clip on the two party political system â a telling clip where he sites international organizations begging America to âtry and act like a civilized countryâ. From there I speak on the notion of power as seen by the Moderate Left and the Radical Left; I speak about Joe Bidenâs symbolic nature, Andrew Yangâs ascension and Tulsi Gabbardâs removal from the 3rd debate stage. I try to connect these last three concepts to the chess board idea I began building in the first two episodes. I play a couple very important clips in between these segments, the first is from Status Coup while the second is from Mi Casa Su Casa. The clip from MCSC may be the most impactful as it contains an article which connects many prominent Democratic officials to âthe clubâ talked about by the late George Carlin. There is a bit more in the episode but Iâll allow you to discover that for yourself. Enjoy!

Commentary: Sanctions are an imperial tool, so are invasions

Phil Taylor and Phil Conlon discuss the U.S. policy of sanctioning everyone who disagrees with them, and also the invasion of Congo by Rwanda and Uganda. It's incredible that, following the dismantling of the Soviet Union and the "end of history," Zimbabwe, Angola, Cuba, and Namibia stood up to this imperialist invasion - and won.
Also, during Nixon's presidency, Gov. Ronald Reagan phoned him in a rage, and dropped a frenzy of racist comments while complaining about China's recognition by African countries.
Phil also evaluates the politics surrounding the tanker seizures in the Middle East.
Laura Cheek - At Home in Glacier Bay

Some of the most studied glaciers in the world are found in Glacier Bay National Park located in southeastern Alaska. These expansive ice sheets cover approximately ten percent of the earthâs surface and hold eighty percent of the worldâs fresh water, ninety-nine percent of which can be found in Greenland and Antarctica. Due to gravityâs pull, glaciers shape and scour the landscape moving land and vegetation great distances as they slowly slide downward toward the sea. This glacial movement has created rich farmland, vast deposits of gravel and sand, and concentrated valuable metals, depending on where they glaciers have traveled. Glaciers also create deep valleys and fjords, like the kind seen in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. Laura Cheek was a national park ranger at Glacier Bay National Park in 1996 when this program was recorded. As part of her job, she boarded tour ships in Glacier Bay to discuss glaciers, what theyâre like and how theyâre formed.

Karla Mendes on Brazil's For-Profit Fire Disaster

The Amazon is burning. And weâre not talking about the ubiquitous online store, although profit and commerce are just as involved. According to preliminary data from the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE), deforestation of the Amazon rose 92 percent in the past year to 2,472 square miles â an area larger than the state of Delaware. And these fires, while posing a grave risk for wildfires, are not naturally-occurring. These are for-profit fires, intentionally set and on the rise, fueled by a right-wing government hostile to environmental interests. This week on Sea Change Radio, we get an inside glimpse into this environmental disaster with Brazilian environmental journalist, Karla Mendes. A Contributing Editor to Mongabay, Mendes explains how the new right-wing government in Brazil has paved the way for deforestation and exploitation by big business in some of the worldâs most pristine rain forests. Then, we cast our net to the archives and hear from sea forager extraordinaire, Kirk Lombard.

Here is an interview of Joanna Macy by XR podcast presenter Jessica Townsend from August 27, 2019. This program also includes a reading of the iconic story of the Shambala Warrior - one of the most moving metaphors for our time.
XR refers to a book by and about Joanna Macy that will be released in April 2020. The title is âA Wild Love for the World: Joanna Macy and the Work of our Timeâ. From Muskrat Falls to Mauna Kea, real communists stand with those fighting for self-determination against the oppressive forces that must be defeated if the world is to have a livable future.
Mugabe Made Land Reform Happen, Standing Firm Against Colonial Reaction

Stephen Gowans analyses media coverage of Robert Mugabe's legacy by exploring the West's reaction to him in the context of a hypothesis:
The more a country's leadership pursues national liberation goals, the more it will be 'demonized' by the West.
South Africa and Zimbabwe form a perfect comparison. Mugabe sought to make land reform 'meaningful' by returning ill-gotten colonial land gains back to Africans. South Africa did not go as far, and consequently its liberation leader, Nelson Mandela, is feted in the West.
Land reform is a serious issue in many African countries that suffered under direct colonialism. And Mugabe, at first, was reluctant to demand back what was owed. Initially, he negotiated a voluntary 'willing seller, willing buyer' process that was guaranteed to be slow. But the U.K. didn't hold up their end of the deal, and Tony Blair reneged on it. So Mugabe moved to retake the stolen land.
South Africa followed the voluntary model, and land reform indeed proceeded at a glacial pace. Behind today's colonial justification for not returning land to Africans is the racist idea that only white people know how to grow crops. White, Western-oriented firms ought to own all Zimbabwe's resources, from farmland to diamonds, if our media is to be believed. Democratization of African resources is a concept absolutely reviled in the West.
Gowans also discusses China's support for Zimbabwe, and the cruel Western program of sanctions against the country. They are basically the same as those applied against Maduro in Venezuela.
