Out of the Woods - Show #347 - 12-3-16

Nov. 25, 2016, 8:53 a.m.
This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length. Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul

Episode 2016.03 - The President Trumps the Establishment, Not Necessarily

Nov. 25, 2016, 3:42 a.m.
There has been a lot of talk about a Donald Trump Presidency, so much so I thought about not publishing an episode about the topic, but like so many podcasts I post, I recorded it, listened to the material which spewed from my mouth, then decided it might have some value. This is a rather raw episode, so prepare yourself for some hard truths (or opinions). I talk about Black exclusion, the meaning of liberalism, the falseness I see in progressivism (more on that later next year in my other podcast Mahoka Mwako), JFK’s assassination, what Donald Trump and Obama spoke about, the war within the upper class and various other topics I don’t hear anyone else talking about. I haven’t included any outside clips today and would like to state once and for all, the first 15 minute segment was recorded after the main body, so if you feel like something doesn’t sound quite right when listening to both segments – you are right. Enjoy. Contact me at: vphiamer.adis.ogaarwa@outlook.com

Africa's Cuba? What is Behind International Condemnation of Eritrea?

Nov. 24, 2016, 6:43 p.m.
In June of 2016, a United Nations sanctioned Commission of Inquiry submitted its second report on the human rights situation in Eritrea. The report, based on interviews with hundreds of Eritreans in 13 countries concluded that violations had been committed in the African country over the course of two decades which amounted to Crimes Against Humanity. The report recommends that Eritrean officials be reffered to the International Criminal Court. On this week's Global Research News Hour, we examine the concerns raised by the report, ad put them in a geopolitical context to determine if the charges are fair, or if they are being trumped up to satisfy an imperial agenda. Andebrhan Welde Giorgis is a veteran of the war for Eritrea's independence, a former member of the Eritrean National Assembly and author of the 2014 book "Eritrea at a Crossroads: A Narrative of Triumph, Betrayal and Hope." He is a critic of the Eritrean government. Thomas C Mountain is an independent journalist based in Asmara since 2006. He has written for Black Agenda Report, COunterpunch and other online publications and counters the criticisms levelled by the 'Human Rights mob' as he calls them.

The Hollow Democrats

Nov. 23, 2016, 5:40 p.m.
Obama's Presidency failed to deliver "hope" and "change" to the black voters who propelled him to that position. Straight talking Freedom Rider columnist Margaret Kimberley explains how the Obama administration's inaction carried over into Clinton's election campaign. As an elite party representing corporate globalization, Democratic party strategists are unable and unwilling to comprehend the problems facing ordinary Americans, and are not interested in devising real solutions. Americans need to start building alternatives to the Democrats if they don't want a repeat of Clinton vs. Trump... or worse.
