Jeff Blankfort: News/Op: Trump, Jerusalem, Occupied media
Nov. 23, 2016, 12:59 p.m.
Blankfort describes divisions in progressive ranks between Clinton and anti-Clinton voters and reasons both voted the way they did: domestic vs. foreign policy issues; fear of Trump's domestic agenda vs. fear of Clinton starting war with Russia. He points that one issue uniting Trump and Clinton was support for Israel which was suppressed from national debates on wishes of both parties, particularly Democrats whose younger voters are not concerned with Israel.
He reminds listeners of origins of current conflict with Russia, the US orchestrated Ukraine coup and Clinton's comparison of Putin with Hitler after Crimea annexation and gives credit to Julian Assange and Wikileaks for exposing Democrats' shenanigans.
Blankfort predicts that Trunp will break with US policy by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital and if Huckabee is appointed ambassor to Israel it will be a certainty. He suggests it might lead to third Palestinian intifada and Iran breaking nuke treaty while Arab allies of Israel offer restrained criticism.
In referring to program guest, Grant Smith, Blankfort mention's Smith's case in federal court to have US aid to Israel declared against the law on the basis of Symington's bill in 1976 and Glenn's amendment in 1977 that would prohibit the US from providing aid to any state that is involved with obataing nuclear technlogy outside of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty that Israel hasn't signed.
He mention's Trump's earlier statement that the US should not take sides in the Israel-Palestine conflict and notes that making a similar statement, a no-no for presidential candidates effectively ended Howard Dean's primary run in 2004 and turned him into a pro-Israel enforcer at the Democratic National Committee.
He speaks of Israels' announcement of a new settlement near Jordan on the heels of Obama's $38 billion arms gift to Israel, the latest poke in the eye by our regional ally and that recent fundraiser for Friends of the Israel Defense Forces in Beverly Hills that raised a record $38 million, tax-exempt, for a foreign army of occupation, was a symbolic gesture of a matching fund. That the mainstream media does not report on these dinners that take place in Beverly Hills and New York, featuring well known guests and Hollywood and Broadway celebrities is ample evidence of who controls the media.

Captain Paul Watson: When the Oceans Die We Die
Nov. 22, 2016, 11:12 p.m.
When Captain Paul Watson - co-founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society returned from exile in France, TUC radio broadcast an interview with him that surpassed in downloads all programs of 2016 except for one. So here is an update on occasion of the beginning of the Japanese whale hunt in the Southern Ocean.
Sea Shepherd is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Their 1977 founding mission is to end the destruction of habitat and the slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans. Their decades long practice of aggressive non-violence has led to charges of piracy. However Sea Shepherd's legal team defends the organization's right to enforce international conservation laws in neutral waters.
Courts in many jurisdictions have sided with Sea Shepherd - with the notable exception of the US 9th District Court. The US court sided in 2012 with Japanese Whalers and ordered Watson to stay away from the whaling fleet. Even though in March 2014 the International Court of Justice ruled that the Japanese whaling program was not, as claimed, for scientific purposes, and ordered Japan to cease operations, the US District Court is standing by its ruling. On August 23, 2016, a preliminary injunction, which prevents Sea Shepherd's US branch from disrupting Japanese whaling operations in the Southern Ocean, became permanent.
However Sea Shepherd is an international organization and the Australian branch is not bound by the US 9th District Court ruling. Australia in fact has declared Japan's hunt in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary to be illegal.
As this program goes out in late November 2016 Sea Shepherd Australia is outfitting their most recently added vessel, the Ocean Warrior, to confront Japanese whalers who already left Japan on November 18, 2016.
While still in exile in Paris in January of 2016 Paul Watson was interviewed by Aurélie Aimé who is part of the Chou Brave TV collective. They touched on remembrance, vision, ideas, climate change, children, ecology, diversity and interdependence and even food and above all why exactly we humans will die when the oceans die.
They spoke in a coffee house with some music in the background.

Re-exploring Sports Welfare
Nov. 22, 2016, 2:55 p.m.
As you digest your Thanksgiving feast this Thursday and settle in to watch some football with the family, keep in mind that your down time comes with a cost. Nearly all NFL teams are profitable before a single ticket is sold and for most of these teams itâs public dollars that have made this level of profitability possible. This week on Sea Change Radio, we re-visit our 2014 discussion with Patrick Hruby, a contributing Editor at VICE Sports. In this examination of "sports welfare," Hruby talks about how common government subsidies are in the sports industry, and the opportunity cost felt by environmental causes when public coffers are drained in order to bankroll some of the wealthiest enterprises in America.

Speak-Out on Chicago Police Crimes -
Nov. 21, 2016, 2 p.m.
People speak of the police who tortured, abused and lied about them in court - the consequences for themselves - and their commitment to end a culture that debased them and society at large.
In Chicago there is a call for an elected civilian police accountability council (CPAC) to end impunity and the wall of official silence. Following the FOIA-ed release of video from the police murder of Laquan McDonald, which exposed an attempted coverup by Mayor Emanuel and States Attorney Alverez, people boiled with outrage into the streets to peacefully protest on Black Friday in Chicago's most expensive shopping district, "the Magnificent Mile".
Frank Chapman from the Committee to End Racist and Political Repression speaks about why there is a call to Boycott Black Friday on the "Magnificent Mile" again, a link with Martin Luther King, and why justice and accountability reject anything but community control over the police.
