Donald Drumpf Theatre Vol. 13
April 12, 2017, 10:23 p.m.
Donald Drumpf Theatre Vol. 13 In the Musicals. The show is a make-believe listen to what might happen if a reality television star became the leader of the free world. The show features news clips and songs cut in a way similar to Dickie Goodman, with a Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style. Contributions are welcome to info@wgxc.org. It's a fake news show that's actually radio theatre, so the news is true.

Coleen Rowley:Neocons hand in Syrian Attack; Anti-Russian hysteria
April 12, 2017, 12:12 p.m.
Rowley, a member of VIPS, Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Peace, speaks of their memo of advice to Trump pointing to mistake in accusing Syria of chemical attack (on Consortium News) and adds more details provided by Theodore Postol, MIT expert, disproving evidence provided by AL-Qaeda affiliate that runs Idlib.
Rowley points out the sea change that has taken place. With everything topsy-turvy and the liberal interventionists in the Clinton camp thirsting for war it is right winger and America Firster Ann Coulter who sent a tweet praising and publicizing the VIPS memo while John McCain has become a Clinton supporter.
Rowley points out that neocons, like AIPAC, has its tentacles into both parties while controlling Washington think tanks that operate on Israel's behalf.
She points out that while every country is spying on all the others, US is the most active with Israel in second place and that Israel's extensive espionage against the US is never discussed.
Rowley urges people to use their critical thinking and examine how the government and the media have been playing them, (more to come).
Jeff Blankfort: News/Op: Syrian Gas Attck Lie Exposed
April 12, 2017, 11:13 a.m.
Blankfort begins by recalling Gulf of Tonkin lie to expose administration allegation of Syrian use of sarin gas as a lie. He notes that LBJ immediately countermanded JFK's order to begin withdrawing troops from Vietnam. He compares Gulf of Tonkin with the 9-11 PNAC Pearl Harbor to launch neocon agenda calling for renewed dominance of American power (to benefit Israel) beginning with the overthrow in Iraq and destabilization of Middle East,
He rips into NPR's Lulu Garcia Navarro for inviting Paul Wolfowitz on last Sunday's Weekend Edition to give his opinion on US attack on Syria but lets him off the hook on Iraq.
He then cites and quotes from beginning of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Peace memo to Trump expressing their disbelief of allegations that Syria carried out a gas attack (see Consortium News.Org) and then goes on to quote at length retired Col, Pat Lang point by point refutation of the allegation (on PopularResistance.Org), noting that the media will ignore it.
He goes on to quote from Owen Jones in the Guardian that the press that Trump denounced as liars is now applauding him and cites examples leaving Blankfort to suggest that the establishment media, with its long history of lying, is indeed an enemy of the people.
Blankfort concludes my mentioning two conference that took place in March in Washington dealing with the Israel Lobby, one that the media totally ignored, âThe Israel Lobby and American Foreign Policy,â sponsored by Irmep, the Inst. For Research: Middle East Policy and the Washington Rept. On the Middle East which featured Ilan Pappe, Hanan Ashrawi, John Mearsheimer and other Middle East experts which can be viewed at irmep.org in part or in its entirety.
The other, far larger, AIPAC's annual policy conference was another, Nuremberg style affair, designed to re-enforce its control over Congress, it's most important occupied territory.

Jeremy Miller on California's Water Troubles
April 11, 2017, 3:57 p.m.
Californiaâs soggy winter and spring belie its long-term water prospects. While itâs true that the Golden State is experiencing record rainfalls, Californiaâs water problems have far from evaporated. A warmer globe means wilder swings of storms and drought, deluges and scarcity. Is the most populous state ready for these wild swings? What are they doing with the surplus that is literally spilling over aquifers right now? And how will they ensure that groundwater stores are not completely depleted? This week on Sea Change Radio, we hear from environmental writer Jeremy Miller who discusses his recent New Yorker article chronicling Californiaâs deep, systemic water problems. Miller talks about the impact of the flooding in Northern California, shares ideas from experts on how to re-charge the stateâs stressed groundwater reserves, and posits that California needs a more sustainable model for fresh water that is less dependent on the snow pack in the Sierra Mountains.
Richard Grossman - Dismantling Corporations - Archive (TWO of TWO)
April 11, 2017, 1:46 p.m.
This segment begins with an intriguing archival speech on the history of corporations that TUC Radio recorded in Washington DC. at the 1996 Teach-In organized by the International Forum on Globalization. The segment ends with two important projects Grossman worked on just before his death: A law to criminalize hydro-fracking and corporations as a class or group.
In the Preface to his 1993 pamphlet, Taking Care of Business, Richard Grossman wrote:
"Corporations cause harm every day. Why do their harms go unchecked? How can they dictate what we produce, how we work, what we eat, drink and breathe? How did a self-governing people let this come to pass? - Corporations were not supposed to reign in the United States."
Richard died of cancer on November 22nd, 2011 - he was only sixty-eight. He was one of the lucid people who first described not just the history of corporations but the now global challenge to democracy and personal and state sovereignty that they pose.

Like Rust, U.S. imperialism never sleeps.
April 10, 2017, 6:01 p.m.
Stephen Gowans explains how U.S. foreign policy is a class war: the lives of ordinary Syrians are limited by the structure of globalization. They are put into a subordinate position in the global economy, as low-wage agriculture and basic industry.
Syria's government grew out of resistance to this subordination. It represents the values of the enlightenment more than the so-called 'civilizers' who are attacking it.
Gowans links his book on Syria to provocative activities against North Korea, and Trump's continuation of the imperialism of his predecessors.

From the Margins - April 9, 2017
April 10, 2017, 10:25 a.m.
A conversation with Dr. Elizabeth Effinger about her poetry work with women prisoners. We talk about how the work got started, its importance, the parallels between 19th Century Romantic poetry and prison, and more.
Bio (from UNB website):
Elizabeth Effinger is interested in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British literature, especially Romantic poetry; the interconnections between literature, philosophy, and science; literary theory and human-animal studies; the Gothic (in all ages); and the Anthropocene.
Her research published or in progress covers a range of issues: the queer bodies of Romanticism, in both material and disciplinary senses; the relation between late eighteenth-century German philosophy â specifically theories of aesthetics, evolution, and human and nonhuman nature â and British Romantic Literature; discourses of improvement and theories of Bildung; and the relation between psychoanalysis and nineteenth-century literature.
