Free The Women's Bathroom 3
Nov. 20, 2016, 2:01 p.m.
This week, Sean discusses the "Women's Bathroom 3", 3 prisoners at Warren CI, Lebanon Ohio, who're being charged with attempting to pass contraband via 3 female visitors. The story goes: staff members had put cameras into the women's bathroom in the visitation area, have video of women using the bathroom and depositing things (garbage?) into the garbage can in the bathroom and that these male prisoners were somehow planning to retrieve these items (never recovered by guards, claimed to be drugs by the guards). Gross.
Discussion on the election by two Asheville area anarchists
Nov. 20, 2016, 1:41 p.m.
This week we spoke with two Asheville area anarchists, May and Julie, about THE ELECTION of all things. We talked about anarchist strategy in this day and age, the tactic of a general strike and what might prevent or incite some folks' participation, some things which are missing from anarchist and other discourse right now, the role of social media, and much much more. If you are listening to an hour long version of this conversation and want to hear more, please consider checking out the podcast version of this show, which is available via iTunes by searching The Final Straw Radio in the iTunes store or on any podcatcher device, or via our website thefinalstrawradio.noblogs.org.

After the election of Trump as POTUSA, cities around the U.S. have seen huuuuge protests. Portland, OR, in particular has seen over week of intense protracted street action in which people faced off with police and reactionaries in the streets. As such there have been many arrests and some are facing felony charges. There is a request for assistance in fund raising for arrest support.
Mateen Abdul Shaheed is a 20 year old youth of color who was arrested on a felony warrant and is currently being held on alleged charges of 6 accounts of criminal mischeif in the first degree, which is a class c felony in relation to ongoing events in Portland.

#455 -- The Hollow Men (R)
Nov. 19, 2016, 9:22 a.m.
KD contrasts Halloween (good) with Black Friday (bad)--setting the stage for historian MORRIS BERMAN's brilliant and witty talk.
For Berman, the essential hollowness of America's leaders reflects the hollowness at the core of many of us--and the hollowness of The American Dream (which seems to be just a wish for more stuff). "The System" seems to be collapsing--leaving Morris with very mixed emotions.
Then singer-satirist ROY ZIMMERMAN offers a more upbeat view of the oddness of American life.

Now that the numbers have been crunched and the Latino vote was bigger and more influential in the 2016 presidential election, just as predicted, what in fact is the takeaway from how those communities voted? And what are the most prevalent issues that most immediately confront those communities of voters and how are Latinos preparing them-selves to respond to the assaults against them promised by the president elect?

Climate Chaos Worse than the COP22 is Letting on: Conversations with Guy McPherson, Cory Morningstar and Dahr Jamail
Nov. 18, 2016, 8:09 a.m.
With the twenty second annual UN CLimate Change Conference (COP22) coming to a close as of November 18th, the Global Research News Hour is taking the opportunity to examine the current state of the climate, and the (non) solutions being proposed under the current international framework.
The bulk of the program features a conversation among host Michael Welch, investigative journalist Cory Morningstar, and evolutionary biologist Guy McPherson. Morningstar draws from her research into what she calls the non-profit industrial complex to conclude that climate action from political and activist bodies are more geared toward maintaining business as usual than meaningfully mitigating climate chaos.
Professor Guy Mcpherson elaborates on his major theme of runaway global Warming resulting in the near term extinction of the human species, and the reluctance of academic and other authorities, including the IPCC to process and acknowledge the futility of combatting the predicament.
Finishing off the program, award-winning investigative journalist and author Dahr Jamail returns to the show to spell out the major indicators of Abrupt Climate Disruption and responsible approaches to the Climate dillemma in the face of the incoming Trump administration.
