JULY 20, 2016 - THE REAL STORY OF THE MLK ASSASSINATION
July 18, 2016, 5:17 p.m.
Cheryl shares the speech given by Dr. William Pepper at the Left Forum 2016 on the Deep State Panel on Assasinations. Dr. Pepper talks about the evidence he has gathered over the last 35 years and has included in his new book "The Plot to Kill King". I highly
recommend reading this new book that has even more evidence than Dr. Pepper's last book "An Act of State".

#737 - The War On Obesity
July 18, 2016, 4:19 a.m.
Two powerful and informative speakers with complementary perspectives on the declining health of the US population. First we hear Rebecca Anshell Song on Sexism and the Food and Diet Industry. She highlights the impossibility of the modern targets set for feminine beauty - and the consequences ranging from suicide and despair of affected women to the millions of cosmetic operations carried out in an effort to achieve physically impossible ideals of feminine beauty. Our main speaker is Professor Robert H. Lustig who observes that the "war on obesity", just like the war on drugs and the war on terrorism, is having counterproductive effects and in fact promoting obesity, as well as making large profits for corporations in the process.

British EU Referendum Result Weakens Old and New Imperialisms
July 17, 2016, 7:36 p.m.
Historically the socialist and national movements have resisted the move to super-states created by colonial powers (US, Britain, France). Only in recent years did the great financial centers prevail in establishing the European Union, which reduced the ability of weaker nations to govern themselves. Progressives and patriots should lead in taking power back from autocratic bureaucrats posing as âEurope."

#437 -- Let Your Life Be a Friction to Stop the Machine
July 17, 2016, 5:11 p.m.
A video essay on America's current problems. A wide-ranging but concise critique of how America is run by a financial and corporatist elite. It's also about how our national myths (e.g., American Exceptionalism) are used to sugar-coat and justify imperial war abroad, political repression at home, and economic exploitation everywhere.
Beneath the piece's Doomsday tone and style is a cogent, left-of-center critique of our current system.
Plus a few words by me on this unhappy election season.

A conversation with Keep Hoods Yours and on the July 25th International Day of Solidarity with Antifascist Prisoners
July 17, 2016, 1:41 p.m.
The first segment is a short conversation with members of NYC Antifa, an antifascist group in New York City. In this conversation we talk a bit about the history of this day of solidarity plus the state of fascism in the US and abroad. This conversation was transcribed and re-recorded to protect the folks' identities. To learn more about this, you can visit https://nycantifa.wordpress.com/, and to donate to the international defense fund you can visit https://intlantifadefence.wordpress.com/about-2/
=======
A large portion of this episode is a conversation with a member of Keep
Hoods Yours. Keep Hoods Yours, or KHY, is a radical graffiti crew based
in the SF Bay Area that organizes against gentrification, against sexual
predators in the scene, against racism and more. During the
conversation, we'll hear about the rebel cultural car events called
Sideshows, the police killing of Richard Perkins during one of these Sideshows, KHY participation in uprisings against the Ferguson verdict, resistance to Fast Agent and poning of Kenny Truong and the shutdown of racist, gentrifying business "Locals Corner" in the Mission District. You can find KHY on Instagram or in the streets. Keep an eye out for this interview in an upcoming issue of Rolling Thunder Magazine.

On July 25th at 9 am Luke OâDonovan will walk out of Washington State Prison after serving two years there. We are thrilled to see our friend free from behind prison walls. He is in high spirits and very excited to be released. As many of you who have been in touch with him know, he has occupied his time with a rigorous workout routine, lots of reading, and correspondence with all those who took the time to communicate with him.
Unfortunately he will not be allowed to return to his home and life in Atlanta. Due to the judge adding a banishment condition to his probation, Luke will have to move all the way to the West Coast for the next eight years, or until the conditions of his probation are changed. Moving forward, here are some ways to continue to support Luke as he starts life on strict probation.
Moneyâ Luke will need money in order to cover his living expenses while he gets on his feet and moves his belongings and life to the West Coast. He will also need money to cover the probation and drug testing fees that he will be subject too. You can donate or set up recurring donations by visiting
their paypal site.
Care Packagesâ Luke will need lots of little things, like clothes to rebuild his wardrobe, delicious vegan food, and other items that you are not allowed to have in prison. If you would like to send a care package please email letlukego@gmail.com to work out details on where and what to send.
Solidarity and Support- Throughout Lukeâs case and subsequent imprisonment the support and solidarity he has gotten has been overwhelming. From the solidarity marches and actions to the mountain of mail and the hundreds of postcards sent to the judge we have been thrilled by all those who have taken action for him. Once things are more clear we will begin trying to get his banishment condition appealed, check back for updates. For now any and all actions are appreciated. As Lukeâs new living situation isnât worked out yet we canât provide contact info at this time, but email us at letlukego@gmail.com if you want to get in touch.
Luke is set to be free from prison, but there is still a lot to do. Thanks everyone for your past and future support.

Canada is Foolishly Following the NATO Hardhats in a Confrontation with Russia
July 16, 2016, 9:03 p.m.
Russia does not pose a threat to its neighbors, yet NATO's leaders are sounding alarms and sending handfuls of troops to the Baltics, all of which is making matters worse and increasing the danger of real war. Dobbin points out Justin Trudeau is in no way different in his attitude to Russia than his predecessor Stephen Harper. But Murray saves his harshest words for the passiveness of the NDP, saying they can't even bother to name a new interim leader; perhaps, says Dobbin, they should just give up.
Erdogan's New Policies and the Risk of a Coup
July 16, 2016, 8:56 p.m.
President Erdogan has led his country on a zig-zag course, confusing both friend and foe.
Turkey is a NATO country but gets little respect from its American and European allies. Erdogan himself is a volatile personality. Recently he made up with Israel, offered an apology to Russia and word has spread that he is interested in normalizing relations with Syria. The latter point would put the Turkish president at odds with Saudi Arabia. It is no wonder then that Zafar Bangash had much to say about some sections of the Turkish military possibly contemplating a coup.
(REPEAT)Black Lives Matter: Investigating the Culture of Impunity of Racist Police Violence in the U.S.
July 16, 2016, 8:53 p.m.
The Black Lives Matter movement, and related anti-racism demonstrations are raising awareness of the profound social and racial inequalities across the United States. In particular these demonstrations and their social media counterparts are pointing to the racist violence perpetrated by police agencies apparently with impunity.
This week's Global Research News Hour takes an in depth look at the phenomenon with two guests. Michelle Gross is a Minneapolis-based activist working with the group Communities United Against Police Brutality. She places in context the unrest following the fatal shooting of 24 year old African American Jamar Clark.
In the final half hour we will hear from Abayomi Azikiwe, commentator, essayist and editor of Pan-African News Wire. Azikiwe explains the historical roots of this repression of African Americans, the successes and failures of the Black Liberation Movements of the past and his understanding of the fundamental changes that would be needed to fully emancipate the Black population of America.
