The Roosting of Right-Wing Extremist Chickens in Americas Gun-Happy Barnyard

Oct. 6, 2015, 9:39 p.m.
TheAngryindian speaks on the recent US terrorist tragedy undertaken by a suicidal bi-racial, neo-Nazi and Irish Republican Army (IRA) admirer Chris Harper Mercer on the Umpqua Community College campus in Oregon State and the desperate (and silly) damage control flooding the internet by right-wing extremists. Numerous right-wing social media propagandists have been trying in vain to falsely connect neo-fascist gun collector and military-enthusiast Chris Harper Mercer to everything from an anti-white activist with #BlackLivesMatter and the 'New' Black Panther Party to wildly accusing him of being an agent of the Bernie Sanders and/or Hillary Clinton presidential campaigns in an effort to enact a 'gun-grab' (which is just crazy since it isn't happening). TheAngryindian also extends an offer to the killer of Trayvon Martin, one George Zimmerman, to guest on 4WR to explain why Chris Harper Mercer and President Barack H. Obama are 'Mixed-Race' and he isn't. EXTRA: Special 'CONTRABAND CLASSIFIED' (a weekly broadcast hosted by Kalonji Changa and Amond Jackson broadcasting from Salem Psalms Studio in Atlanta, Ga) interview with Former Black Panther/BLA Leader Dhoruba Bin Wahad interviewed regarding Ferguson, Missouri Rebellion, Warrior Cops and Al Sharpton's role in quelling the flames of resistance. Crisis in Burkina Faso

Oct. 6, 2015, 8:13 p.m.
Ameth Lo and Phil Taylor discuss the crisis of the recent coup in Burkina Faso. The Birkinabe People rose up for the second time in a year--first to oust former brutal 27 year regime of Blaise Compaore and second to oust Compaore's comrades who maintain significant power as does their elite Presidential Guard (RSP). Lo eloquently and intelligently answers two of Phil's central questions: 1. Can the upcoming elections be a "fair fight" when Compaore's followers have huge financial resources--both within the country and outside the country, while the Sankara Burkinabe supporters lack financial resources? 2. How important is it to to know who killed the revolutionary Thomas Sankara in 1987?

US Blockade Against Syria: A War Crime

Oct. 6, 2015, 7:48 p.m.
Chris Black discusses his latest article, "US Blockade Against Syria: A War Crime." The US moneyed interest government, imperialism on steroids, creates war crimes, forcing Syrians to flee as refugees, then uses the fleeing refugees to "manipulate the emotions of the citizens of NATO countries to justify a call for more aggression against Syria which will create more misery, more death and more refugees." (from article) Black compares and contrasts the motivations of Russia (which has taken in over one million Ukrainian refugees) to the motivations of the EU (who fight about who should take in the refugees they created); and, he carefully lays out the US moneyed interest government duplicity: It supports the Isis terrorists while threatening action against Russia for supplying humanitarian aid for the internal refugees in Syria. Black said that Obama requesting Greece and Bulgaria to stop the flow of relief supplies from Russia to Syria is what provoked him to write the article.

Pope Francis, Serving the poor and the environment

Oct. 6, 2015, 7:27 p.m.
Ted Schmidt, defines Pope Francis' tour in the US, "a turbo-capitalist culture, extraordinarily run by predatory capitalists and economic fundamentalism." Schmidt praises Pope Francis' connection to the people and his inclusiveness; yet, he has concerns about the long-term effect of the Pope's influence, if the leadership and People of the parishes (220 in Toronto) do not organize, connect to movements outside of the Church and go beyond charity work/thinking to justice work/thinking. Schmidt explains that Pope Francis is part of the prophetic, who stand up to the king. The prophet tells the king he is naked when he is naked. The prophet pulls the curtain away from the con-artist Wizard of Oz. (Is Obama the "king" and/or the "Wizard of Oz?) We have always had prophets, such as Thomas Merton, Martin Luther King Jr, and Dorothy Day. They come out of the bowels of the Church and are often on the edge but they are always alive.

Our Time is Running Out - The Arctic Sea Ice is Going!

Oct. 6, 2015, 5:24 p.m.
Peter Wadhams is Professor of Ocean Physics at the University of Cambridge, UK. With over 40 years of research on Arctic sea ice, icebergs and polar oceanography, he is considered one of the leading experts in his field. Recently Wadhams has gone public on an additional danger related to the loss of sea ice. The Arctic summer ends in September and observations show a tendency of shrinking ice followed by a dramatic lack of re-growth of ice during the subsequent Arctic winter. Wadhams has made studies from submarines that show that the new ice is thin and slushy and easily broken up by winds. An ice free Arctic in September would accelerate the already occurring methane releases from the permafrost land areas and the shallow waters along the continental shelves. Methane is a more potent greenhouse gas than CO2.

Richard Heinberg: After the Burn

Oct. 6, 2015, 1:40 p.m.
After a two-century-long burning bender, the globe is in for a heck of a hangover. Our guest this week on Sea Change Radio is Richard Heinberg, Senior Fellow at the Post-Carbon Institute, and author of a dozen books about growth, peak oil, and energy issues. His latest book is called Afterburn, a collection of essays that center on the impending consequences of what he terms “The Great Burning” – our chronic habit of fossil-fuel binging. Heinberg and host Alex Wise talk about what it will take to truly transition off of fossil fuels, including the need for bold leadership and radically different policies. He explains why the GDP is a flawed metric for success, and talks about why we should move away from the outdated Gross Domestic Product, and toward the Global Happiness Index as a better metric of national well-being.

Out of the Woods - Show #287 - 10-10-15

Oct. 5, 2015, 3:39 p.m.
This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length. Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk, from Arlo Guthrie to Aerosmith. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul
