The consequences of the control of reproduction and the reproduction of daily life that began about the time of the creation of the moveable type printing press, in approximately the year 1440 is the topic of this edition of Radio Curious.
Our guest is Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner, the Founding Director of the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation in Fayetteville, New York and member of the Adjunct Faculty at Syracuse University, in Syracuse, New York. Sally Roesch Wagner was one of the first two women to receive a doctorate for work in womenâs studies, with a Ph.D. awarded to her in 1978 from the history of consciousness program by the University of California at Santa Cruz.
Wagner, a Radio Curious veteran guest is now the author of âSurvival Is Indigenous,â a book that describes the consequences of the societal control shortly after the development of the printing press, fomented by western religions, which she argues exists to the present time.
Sally Roesch Wagner and I visited in the Radio Curious studios on January 6, 2016, to discuss âSurvival Is Indigenous,â and began our conversation when I asked her what is indigenous about survival.
The books Dr. Wagner recommends are âBraiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants,â by Robin Will Kimmerer; and âMy Life on The Road,â by Gloria Stienem.

This is a conversation between two authors who dedicated their work to revealing the under-cover world of US politics. David Talbot is doing it here in the form of a real life spy thriller - The Devil's Chessboard - a book that is more intriguing than current fiction. Peter Dale Scott calls the invisible government the Deep State and has written several books defining the term.
In this second part of their conversation Scott and Talbot begin with the aftermath of WWII where the future of war time intelligence services, and the future relations to the USSR and what became the Cold War, are being decided.
President Truman resisted the conversion of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) into the CIA. However Allen Dulles had different plans. He had rejoined Sullivan and Cromwell, a law firm with huge impact on international affairs, and powerful corporate clients.
Dulles also had close relations with the Council on Foreign Relations. Founded in 1921 and still very active today, it is a think tank specializing in U.S. foreign policy, headquartered in New York City. The CFR promotes globalization, free trade, reducing financial regulations, and support regional blocs such as NAFTA or the TPP. These are the forces that shaped post war policy more than any actions by the post war US administration.
Algae Systems and Other Miracles: John Perry Barlow
Jan. 12, 2016, 5:27 p.m.
Who doesn't need a miracle? As the lyricist for many timeless Grateful Dead classics, as a privacy rights activist, or as the founder of the biofuel company, Algae Systems, John Perry Barlow has used creativity and sheer will to advance a wide array of "miracles." That is until a devastating illness left him hospitalized for most of 2015. Sea Change Radio host Alex Wise sat down recently with Barlow, who's still on the mend, along with the CEO of Algae Systems, Matthew Atwood. They discuss the company's technology which turns waste water into fuel, and the current Indiegogo campaign to raise new capital for Algae Systems. They also delve into Barlow's relationship with Edward Snowden, his recovery from this illness, and the unfortunate tale of how he missed out on the Grateful Dead's Fare Thee Well mini-tour.

Leila Farsakh: the History of Palestinian Resistance to Zionism
Jan. 12, 2016, 2:45 p.m.
How to begin a new year? We begin by asking the question how did we get here? How did the Zionist project create what we have today in Palestine-Israel? We turn to University of Massachusetts-Boston Professor Leila Farsakh to answer that question by laying out a concise history of the domination of historic Palestine by Israel. As you'll hear, this history goes back many, many years. She ends by taking a look at what Palestinians are doing to resist that domination.
Leila Farsakhâs presentation titled the History of Palestinian Resistance to Zionism was recorded at a conference at UMass Boston on Palestinian Solidarity.
The second question we are asking to begin the New Year is what is happening to the vision of Arab solidarity (i.e. beyond Palestinian solidarity) in support of Palestineâs quest for freedom from Israeli occupation and domination. Columbia Professor Joseph Massad recently published an article on the Electronic Intifada website which speaks to that question. The article is entitled âDelinking the Palestinians.â After Farsakh, we share excerpts from this very disturbing analysis.
