Chris Black gives the history of General Augustin Ndindiliyimana, who was falsely charged with genocide in Rwanda during the 1994 conflict. Gen. Ndindiliyimana was one of the most senior military figures tried by the court based in Tanzanian, Arusha.
Ndindiliyimana spent 7 years in trial refuting lies and 14 years imprisoned. The General was not allowed to visit his dying young son in Belgium.
He was acquitted of the major charge of participation in massacres in June of 2011 and acquitted of minor charges related to oversight of personnel in February, 2014. On September 22, 2014, Gen. Ndindliyman was released to Belgium where his family resides.
The trial judges made a very significant statement that charges against Gen. Ndindilyiman were politically motivated. They clarified: When Gen. Ndindiliyimana refused to falsely testify against General Bagosora, false charges were laid against Ndindiliyimana to further pressure him.

Cases discussed range from the police murdering Michael Brown in Ferguson, and Oscar Grant in Oakland, to the current focus on NFL Black players' violence against their wives and/or children. This wrongly makes domestic violence a solely "Black" American issue. There is media censorship against blacks and female journalists who deviate from the corporate line.

The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk, from Arlo Guthrie to Aerosmith. On Wednesday September 24, following the Grand Opening of the Canadian Human Rights Museum at the Forks in Downtown Winnipeg, CKUW 95.9FM decided to convene a round table discussion on some of the controversies surrounding the museum. The conversation was sparked by an article, "Human Rights Hypocrisy" from Kimlee Wong which alluded to the construction of the museum on an important archeological site as an act of cultural violence against the Indigenous heritage of this land.

The recent leaks about National Security Agency surveillance programs have renewed the debate over the balance between national security and civil liberties. Four people debated the motion "Spy On Me, I'd Rather Be Safe."

Before the debate, the audience in Washington, D.C., voted 26 percent in favor of the motion and 41 percent against, with 33 percent undecided. After the debate, 29 percent agreed with the motion "Spy On Me, I'd Rather Be Safe," and 62 percent disagreed â making the side arguing against the motion the winners.
