Inspire Indeed welcomes the founders of Nurture, a maternity resource center that connects expecting mothers to local education on childbearing and childrearing, and guidance for a healthy pregnancy and successful birth. Nurture believes that âwhen you nurture the mother, you nurture her child,â and provides evidence-based information so that families can make the best decisions. Nurture is a community for parents hoping to conceive, for pregnant women and their families, for brand new parents, and for healthcare providers or birth professionals. Although this is a recently-launched venture, Nurture already provides (or will soon provide) social support groups for a range of topics; continuing education on maternity care practices; resources for proper postnatal emotional adjustment or perinatal loss coping; nutritional advice; and targeted physical fitness courses, including prenatal and postnatal yoga! One On One With Ras J. Baraka, Candidate for Mayor, Newark N.J.
Newark's South Ward Councilman and principal at Central High School, long-time activist and son of poet/activists Amina & Imamu Amiri Baraka wants to become Newark, New Jersey's 39th mayor. Baraka explained "I would have been comfortable staying in the City Council a lot can be accomplished there, but Mayor [Corey] Booker is making a run for the Senate; and our city is at a crossroads. The plan is for me to run for mayor." With 50 % of Newark residents living below the poverty line, and with an unemployment rate of 29% we'll find out how candidate Baraka believes he can "transfer the city's resources to benefit" everyday working people.

This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length, but I try to keep them approximately 30 minutes in most cases.
Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk, from Arlo Guthrie to Aerosmith. Virginia Community Capital is a bank-holding institution whose business is making a positive social impact -- they have funded 158 projects since their inception and created a number of initiatives for neighborhood revitalization. VCC began as a Community Development Financial Institution with a grant from the Commonwealth in 2006 and opened the Community Capital Bank of Virginia to leverage development funding in 2008. VCC is now a certified B-corporation focused on community reinvestment through lending for affordable housing, small business, community facilities, and food access development in the underserved neighborhoods that could benefit from an economic boost. The âGet Fresh East Endâ initiative addresses the dearth of accessible fresh produce options in Richmondâs East End. In partnership with the Virginia Health Department, the Neighborhood Resource Center, and Shalom Farms (among many others), VCC is working to transform the corner-store businesses of the East End into convenient locations for healthful food and to change the food culture through nutrition education. They also revitalize main streets and historic neighborhoods and by doing so increase pedestrian traffic and walkability, encourage small business growth, and rejuvenate local job markets. Yes, this was a really worthwhile discussion. It even included talking about the executed - but innocent - Cameron Todd Willingham.
