U.S. Weaponizing 'Humanitarian Aid' to Syria

July 31, 2021, 7:09 p.m.
Phil interviews Rick Sterling about the Bab-Al-Hawa crossing between Syria and Turkey, the last official transfer point for "humanitarian aid" from Turkey to Syria. Serena Shim, a U.S.-born reporter for Press TV, died under mysterious circumstances after reporting that World Food Program trucks carrying arms crossed into Syria's Idlib province from Turkey. Idlib Province is the last province of Syria under the control of Al Qaeda. Turkey was an intermediary country for 1000s of Uyghur Al Qaeda militants crossing into Idlib through the Bab-al-Hawa crossing, and who brought their families with them. The UN Security Council was debating earlier this month whether or not the Bal-al-Hawa crossing should remain open. Russia and China argued that all humanitarian aid to Syria should be distributed exclusively by the Syrian government in Damascus. The final decision was to keep the crossing open for 6 months, conditional on a report by the UN Secretary-General after 6 months on the nature and beneficiaries of the aid passing through this crossing. Sterling goes on to discuss the increasing resistance to the U.S. military presence in the Middle East, and the laundering of U.S. government money through NGOs such as the White Helmets, the International Rescue Group, and Doctors Without Borders.

The power of comedy, with Noam Shuster and Mayoon Zayid

July 30, 2021, 11:52 a.m.
Comedy is often that teaspoon of sugar that helps the medicine go down. It can speak truth, it can educate, it can convince while making people laugh, often at themselves. It has enormous power of persuasion. This week we feature two amazing women Comediennes discussing the power of comedy as resistance, as a mechanism for change, as a way to speak truth, perhaps with a little sugar to make that truth go down. Noam Shuster is an Israeli who grew up in a unique village that is equally part Israeli and part Palestinian which shaped her as a resister. Mayoon Zayid is Palestinian/American, who spent her summers in Palestine with her grandparents where she nurtured her strong Palestinian identity. This forum was sponsored by the Foundation for Middle East peace. Foundation President, Laura Friedman, and Rebecca Abou Chedid join the conversation.

Cheeze Pleeze # 892

July 28, 2021, 5:33 p.m.
It's like having our own version of "Cop Rock" as we profile a 2 record set where policemen SING! (they don't just hang out at the donut shop) Some classic country gets the cheeze treatment, and if you had to stereotype the 1970s in one song, it will be this week's chart topping cheezie.
