The second audio comes from WRLG-LP 92.9 Germantown Live Enrichment Center. The station manager Connie Bille read some of their Germantown poems.
In the third audio, SCRAP radio Workshop on the Creation of radio content with Gender Perspective. A participant, Caitlin Alicia Cieri, delivers her homework with an audio-drama called The Breakfast Game, about some women's old "traditional" habit of making the whole family wait to feed themselves until the head of the house, the man, eats.

This is the future that the fascist Republican Party and the courts they increasingly dominate are nailing downâa future that is not yet being resisted and opposed anywhere near firmly or defiantly enough.
Workers Have No Interest in War with China

Two major unions in Australia have discussed and challenged the military posture of the government of Australia. They have made known to their members the problems inherent in this so-called 'AUKUS' deal.
The Maritime Union of Australia, representing some 16,000 workers, declared their 'total opposition' to the reckless announcement by Scott Morrison that Australia would be developing nuclear submarines as part of a military alliance with the U.S. and the U.K.
Such a deal would continue to escalate unnecessary conflict with China, something workers are already feeling the impacts of. The funds spent on nuclear submarines would better be spent on health care and education in Australia, as well as jobs from renewables. The Electrical Trades Union offered a similar critique.
Additionally, the nuclear submarines will require significant offshore maintenance, undermining their sovereign application. After COVID, it is dubious to pitch any critical equipment to a self-respecting country that cannot be maintained in-country.
Tru Earth CEO Brad Liski: Detergent Insurgent

The next time youâre doing a load of laundry, take a second and think about all that goes into cleaning your clothes. You've probably contemplated the water and electricity this activity consumes, but if youâre like most Americans and you use liquid detergent, there's also a lot plastic and gasoline involved, as well. This week on Sea Change Radio, we talk to Brad Liski, the CEO and co-founder of Tru Earth, a company that has pioneered a better way to clean clothes. The companyâs unique paper-thin cleaning strips involve zero plastic packaging, and weigh nearly nothing in comparison to liquid detergents (which, incidentally, comprise 80% water). This means no plastic waste as well as a lot less fuel required to transport product around the globe. We learn about the Tru Earth product, talk about slow progress toward environmental responsibility in the conventional laundry detergent industry, and discuss the need for a plumbing infrastructure that enables effective water re-use.

A political system dependent on charity from rich men in hand-tailored suits with $100 million retirement packages is no democracy. It is a kleptocracy. During the 21st century, the annual gap between CEO pay and typical worker pay has averaged about 350 to 1. Are we ready to Eat the Rich? Eat the Rich is an abbreviation of a saying attributed to Jean-Jacques Rousseau. It was used in radical and anti-capitalist circles and gained wider traction at the beginning of the 21st century in response to increasing income inequality.

On the Summer Solstice of 2020 Joanna Macy, from her home in Berkeley, spoke at the Upaya Zen Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The Buddhist monastery had called for Awakened Action and invited Women Leaders to Speak to Race, Poverty, Climate, and the Covid Pandemic.
Joanna Macy is an eco-philosopher and a scholar of Buddhism, general systems theory, and deep ecology. Now in her very early nineties she has for decades helped transform despair and apathy into constructive change. As teacher, writer of eight books and antinuclear activist she has created frameworks for personal and social change. Joanna Macy is probably best know as the founder and root teacher of the Work That Reconnects.

Pierce talks about how he came to wear all these hats, and explains to us what it is a city councilor actually does.
Then the kids meet Sonia Manzano, best known for her groundbreaking work as Maria on Sesame Street. Sonia has a new project coming out on PBS Kids, Alma's Way coming out on October 4, 2021.

Hopefully it all makes sense by the end of the hour.
Occasionally these shows include documentaries or segments about the history and culture of music and/or radio. I invite your LPFM, Part 15, online or other radio project to include Radio Thrift Shop in your schedule. I've been on the air for 22 years at WSCS which is the "home base" for this show.
