#635 -- Howard Zinn: The Power to Change (2)
May 3, 2020, 7:07 p.m.
A fine talk by Progressive historian Howard Zinn (d. 2010), delivered in 2008. It deals with key themes in Zinn's writing (and social activism): social justice, war, economic power, the anti-democratic behavior of governments (including ours), propaganda, and the power of the people to organize and compel justice.
Part Two (this week) focuses on this country's extravagant military expenditures and "absurd" wars. . . .

Herman's Radio & Record Room #3
May 3, 2020, 6 p.m.
My father was a radio repairman, country & western cowboy singer, and rustic guitar player. He performed in the late 1930âs on live radio before he enlisted in World War II as a radio-telephone technician. This show is my homage to him.
My father was a radio engineer and electrician; he loved the other side of radio as well â the listening side â it kept him company during many lonesome nights in the 30âs, 40âs, 50âs & 60's.
From my imagination to your ears â itâs WHFM â vintage music & radio shows from mid century America. This is music I believe he would have enjoyed.

Sonic Cafe #185/Rockin' with Rocket Fuel
April 30, 2020, 8:57 a.m.
Sonic Café rockinâ with rocket fuel! Hey, welcome to the show, Iâm Scott Clark and this is episode 185. This time the Sonic Café presents a music mix pulled from 47 years. Weâve got your old school, with the Allman Brothers and weâve got your new school, with a cut from Sheer Mag, and then a whole bunch in between with music from the Boom Boom Satellites, All Time Low, Barenaked Ladies, Jade Warrior and of course many more. Then later the Sonic Café helps you live a better life with another in our occasional series of Matthew Mcconaughey moments. Weâll also hear from comedian Dwayne Perkins with some interesting observations about You Tube and the state of todayâs big corporate radio. And speaking of monopolistic media, the Sonic Café would like to extend a hearty handshake to our newest sponsor, your local Internet and cable provider. You donât like âem, but you know thereâs nothing you can do about it. All that and more as we present another distinctively independent hour of intelligent, eclectic music, comedy and pop culture from that little café in the breathtaking Pacific northwest, weâre the Sonic Café.
Donald Drumpf Theatre Volume 172 Brother Drumpfs Travelling Salvation Show
April 30, 2020, 6:01 a.m.
An original radio theatre show each week, with most sounds culled from the previous week, about a fictional, theatrical presidency. Contradictions tell the story, with songs, skits, and clips from political news shows and late-night comedy routines. The definition of "radio theatre" is stretched here, with an updated Dickie Goodman and/or Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style sometimes, and a more straightforward take other weeks. Currently airing on 30 or 40 stations around the world, the network has ordered another 11 months of episodes. Anyone who would like to work on a production, or have their work air in this timeslot, should contact info@wgxc.org.
