Oct. 29, 2019, 6:38 p.m.
Professor Rashid Khalidi speaks in Vienna on the current USA/Trump behavior regarding Israel's outrageous antics, including its takeover of all of Jerusalem, and the glaring flaws dooming the so-called peace process.
Khalidi is a US-Palestinian historian of the Middle East, the Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University and director of the Middle East institute which is based there. In collaboration with the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, the Bruno Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue invited him to speak on the current political line of the USA regarding the issue of Jerusalem.

Helen Mountford: The US Leaves Paris
Oct. 29, 2019, 3:40 p.m.
For years, climate denialists put forth the narrative that it would cripple the US economy to sign on to international climate agreements like the Kyoto Protocol. They said that other major carbon emitting countries like India and China needed to be on board in order for the US to join. It's clear now, however, that this narrative was always just a smokescreen. The Trump Administration is pulling the US out of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, which notably does include India and China, and is an historic accord representing more than 87% of global greenhouse gas emitters. This week on Sea Change Radio, we speak with Helen Mountford the Vice President for Climate and Economics at the World Resource Institute. She breaks down what the US withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement means. We look at when this withdrawal would actually go into effect, examine some Trumpian lies about the Agreement itself, and discuss the impact it will have on the US and the planet moving forward.

ARCHIVE: Fire and the Underground Life in the Forest
Oct. 28, 2019, 4:32 p.m.
UPLOADED A DAY EARLY due to Fire in our area
As California tries to come to terms with the largest and deadliest fires of 2019, attention falls on forests. Logging companies want more clear-cuts. Donald Trump says the forest floor should be cleaned with rakes.
Indigenous elders and visionary foresters say that nobody is asking the trees what they want and need. Especially now as the heat is rising, water becomes scarce and winds are fiercer.
Peter Wohlleben is the author of: "The Hidden Life of Trees: What they Feel, How they Communicate: Discoveries from a Secret World". He is a German forester who became disenchanted by the technologies he was expected to employ. He now manages a 4000 year old beech tree forest in Germany. He was interviewed by Steve Paikin on The Agenda in October, 2016.
Wohlleben referred to research by colleagues and scientists that he benefitted from. Important among them is Suzanne Simard, professor of forest ecology at the University of British Columbia. She has tested theories about how trees communicate with other trees.
Simard also helped identify something called a hub tree, or âmother treeâ. Mother trees are the largest trees in forests that act as central hubs for vast below-ground mycorrhizal networks.
CREDITS
This program is made up of short clips from the Steve Paikin interview of Wohlleben, a clip of Simard from an interview by Dan McKinney, followed by quotes from her frequent presentations on TED talks.

Venezuelan and International Law vs US Government and CIA Creation Juan Guaido
Oct. 27, 2019, 4:54 p.m.
Kevin Zeese speaks about how he and other US peace and justice activists decided to defend the Venezuelan Embassy from the US Government and it's coup plotters. With the permission of the Venezuelan government whom the US had forced to vacate their embassy, the Embassy Protection
Collective occupied the building for 37 days, defending both the legitimate government rights and the Vienna Convention; the international law that protects a foreign embassy in the receiving country.
In need of a public relations stunt to boost its failed coup attempt against Venezuela, the criminals running US foreign policy were handing over to coup supporters Venezuelan counselor offices in other cities to create the illusion that Trump supported traitor and clown Jaun Guaido had a legitimate government. The Embassy Protection Collective put a kink in the plan. Kevin Zeese tells how, and though eventually removed from the embassy when it was violated by Federal Agents what he thinks was won.
At the end he and three others were arrested and charged.
They are raising money for their defense and though facing a year in prison and $100,000 fine for interfering with protective services, are looking forward to the jury trial. The Feds have tried to bury them with irrelevant discovery while they are demanding to see all communications between the Feds and the Maduro government during the stand off. Zeese speaks of that as well.
