TB 170127 Devils Chessboard 2X

Jan. 27, 2017, 3:47 a.m.
This week’s archive show starts off by reporting on an exciting new/old technology that allows you to shoot down drones — and yet another exciting new technology that allows you to soften your skin even as the CIA simultaneously secretly collects a DNA sample from you! What ingenious guys they are! Next we describe some of the advantages — and disadvantages — of our machines. We explore the fact that Occupy was partially funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and George Soros. Following that we expand a truly horrendous metaphor to truly horrendous lengths to describe activism and we describe how activists need to all pull together now and knock it off with all the circular firing squads — right before we explain why everything is pretty much F*%#ED anyway so activism is probably pointless at this point. We then describe the UN’s ‘stoneless’ state and then we describe a great movie idea in case anyone that actually makes movies wants to make a movie out of it. (It involves FBI entrappers being ’stung’ by FBI stingers.) Then, we describe one of the most evil humans in history that you have never heard of — the non-infamous Allen Dulles.

Out of the Woods - Show #356 - 2-4-17

Jan. 26, 2017, 11:46 a.m.
This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length. Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Kate MacLeod, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul

Rules and more rules: Husband lives in Bethlehem but wife and child live in Jerusalem

Jan. 26, 2017, 11:44 a.m.
Interview guest John Atick explains the serpentine procedures, checkpoints, travel times, and driving restrictions involved for visits with his own wife and child. It helps that he's an experienced travel guide! He is interviewed by our colleague Steven Low in Lincoln, MA. Also, we share two articles of note by Gazan thinkers. First, one by Haidar Eid, titled "Following Kerry’s ‘historic’ speech we need a diplomacy of resistance." The article remarks on the nonsensicality of John Kerry's December 28 speech in which he lamented the death of the so-called two-state solution for the so-called “Israeli-Palestinian conflict.” Eid points out that the term "Israeli-Palestinian conflict" is inappropriate where Israel is infinitely stronger than Palestine and occupies and oppresses it. As regards the dead "solution," it would have been inherently racist, preserving apartheid. Haidar Eid is Associate Professor of Postcolonial and Postmodern Literature at Gaza's al-Aqsa University. The full article is posted at http://mondoweiss.net/2016/12/following-diplomacy-resistance/. Second, one by Isra Saleh El-Namy titled "Hamas celebrates 29th anniversary amid local and international challenges Middle East." The article remarks on Fatah's continued intransigence in the face of attempts by Hamas to reconcile. Isra Saleh El-Nameh is a journalist in Gaza. The full article is posted at http://mondoweiss.net/2017/01/celebrates-anniversary-international/.
