The year was 2011, a movement, ignored by the mainstream media was taking Social Media by storm. This movement, which began during early Autumn, had the good fortune of catching fire while the Republican party was going through the motions of selecting a challenger to sitting president Barak Obama. At the time, it presented some stark challenges to the political winds beginning to blow lukewarm phrases into Americanâs eardrums, causing those winds to whip up â changing directions as if some great coastal storm was invading the Ohio Valley in defiance of natural currents. Suddenly, rather sitting or hoping to sit, presidents and presidential hopefuls, had to answer the charges lobed by the movement. Mitt Romney, ruthless Capitalist Vulture he was, even adopted language from the rapidly transpiring movement â while Barak Obama, stammered through explanations as to why the movement had sprung up. This podcast episode, is the first of (at least) two, where I pay tribute to this very powerful movement, a movement we need to see resurrected again. Youâll be treated to great clips from John Stewartâs Daily Show, Democracy Now, Moyers & Company and Keith Olbermann. Enjoy!
