Kawasmi helped establish the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 1994, where he worked as Deputy Director General of International Relations. He also helped establish the Palestine Trade Center (Paltrade), where he worked for two years as Policy manager, and was a senior economic advisor to the German government to support the Palestinian Authority Ministry of National Economy and other public and private institutions.
