On November 27th, legendary Musician/Activist, Billy Bragg, sat down with Ethan Osland from Black Mask, to talk about Billy's songwriting, his musical passion, and the many projects he is currently involved in. They were joined by Pete Jenner, Billy's long time Manager, who has also worked with Pink Floyd, The Clash and many other socially relevant artists.
Part 1 finds Billy talking in-depth about his inspirations and galvanizing experiences that have impacted his creative process, from love songs to political statements. Also, discussed is his active participation in the Folkie tradition of storytelling and songwriting, influenced by Woody Guthrie, Utah Phillips, and many others. He discusses his collaborations with Wilco on the Guthrie-penned Mermaid Avenue Volumes, and, what he considers his most important collaboration: working with Pete Jenner.
We are treated to an intimate and candid look into Billy Bragg's inner workings.
