Dr. Paul McCarthy is a neurosurgeon at LSU Health Sciences Center. He started the Northern Louisiana Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Foundation to raise awareness about brain and spinal cord injuries and disease and provide more funding for neuroscience research in Louisiana.

Dr. McCarthy has been called a "blues fanatic" and released the album, "Louisiana Swamp Stomp," featuring local artists playing blues-based music. All proceeds go o the Northern Louisiana Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Foundation.
