This week's show features stories from NHK World Radio Japan, Radio Deutsche-Welle, Spanish National Radio, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From JAPAN- Japan says that it will take more than 30 years to scrap the destroyed nuclear power plant at Fukushima. In Idaho, at least six workers were exposed to low level radiation at a nuclear research facility. Researchers will check radiation levels every 100 meters in the 20 km exclusion zone around the Fukushima nuclear power plants.
From GERMANY- The Chinese President visited Austria before attending the G20 summit last week- European politicians and business leaders courted him for bail out money, while protestors were kept far away. Countries outside the Eurozone are worried that the Euro debt crisis could infect their economies. Italy will enact further austerity measures and Berlusconi claims that he will step down as Prime Minister. The European Commission warned of the dangers of a possible split up of the Eurozone.
From SPAIN- Spain's High Court has sentenced the former military leader of the Basque separatist group ETA to 105 years in prison. Russia warned the West that any military action against Iran would have unpredictable consequences. A retired right-wing General has been elected President of Guatemala. Daniel Ortega won a landslide third term as President of Nicaragua.
From CUBA- University students and professors from around Colombia marched to Bogota to demonstrate against new government controls on higher education. Students protestors in Chile were banned from demonstrating in front of the Congressional building. Syria has formally accused the US of direct participation in sedition and violence against the government. The editor of the Executive Intelligence Review said that an attack on Iran could lead to the Third World War. Iran's President Ahmedinejad says that his country will not step back from its nuclear program despite accusations that they are developing nuclear weapons.
From RUSSIA- A report on the accusation that Iran was secretly working on nuclear weapons and that Israel is preparing for an attack on Iran.
There is an article about the Shortwave Report by Cassandra Roos on line -

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
NEW TIME SLOT on KZYX! This program will be aired on Sunday afternoon at 4pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via < >
There are several other streams that work better- < >Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am.(PDST)
NEWLY CORRECTED!!! The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from < feed://

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)
